I wanted to have different colors for the volume point of control drawn on bars, but right now it just does whatever is lower on the list of studies. Is there a way I can have white dots for vpoc on black bars and black dots for bars that are any other color?

You have us confused by this statement "it just does whatever is lower on the list of studies". What study are you using to get the Volume Point of Control ? In general, to have different colors based on certain circumstances, then you would need to use the "Color Bar Based on Alert Condition" study. The study I use is "Volume point of control for bars" and it just puts a dot on the vpoc of each bar. And if I have two of the studies for different colors for vpoc, then the color of the study lower on the list of "Studies to Graph" is what color shows up on the bars.

Yes, what you are seeing makes sense, as each study is going to color the exact same location, so the one that is lowest in the list is the last one drawn, which is why that is what you see. The solution is to use the "Color Bar Based on Alert Condition" study. I've used the color bar based on alert condition as well, that is what I use to change the color of certain bars currently. Doesn't that change the color of the whole bar? I don't see how that would help me change the color only for vpoc. Is there a certain alert condition I can enter or something?

My personal solution to a similar issue was to use the "Triangle Right Offset" draw style for the Volume PoC for Bars study. The color stays the same but it doesn't matter since it's offset from the candlestick. Now if I could just color the triangle based on the dominant Bid/ Ask at the POC...but that's a post for another day. =) Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-06-10 23:41:01

You would need to use the "Color Bar Based On Alert Condition" to color the triangle as you want. Your formula for the alert condition within the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition would look like the following to check if the Bid is dominant at the POC: = BVAP(ID1.SG1, 0) > AVAP(ID1.SG1, 0) Where ID1 is the ID of the "Volume Point of Control For Bars" study. In your Color Bar Based on Alert Condition study you would set the following: - Output When Condition True: Study Subgraph Reference - Study Subgraph Reference Value when True: ID1.SG1 - Color Bar Subgraph 'Draw Style': Triangle Right Offset - Color Bar Subgraph 'Width/Size': same as the triangle from the Volume Point of Control for Bars - Color Bar Subgraph 'Color': the color you want when the Bid is dominant For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
