Hi,

I tried using multiple SC instances with IB with having two different Client ID set, Anything I did in TWS platform was not reflecting in SC in any of the instances unless if I set any one of the instance client ID to 0.

Is that how its supposed to be? If yes then is it in anyway possible to get the changes of what I do in TWS in both of my instances?

Genuine question, I think its not answered anywhere.

Thanks

It is our understanding that the TWS software only has a single interface point, therefore you can only connect one installation of Sierra Chart to a single TWS software installation.

It might be possible to have two different TWS installations with different access points, but we do not know. This would be something you would have to ask Interactive Brokers about and how to do it.

I think you misunderstood my question.

Its mentioned on the ibkr setup page that multiple instances of SC can be connected to a single TWS by having the client id different in each instance of SC. Which i did so my question above remains….

I have 2 instances of Sierra Chart connected to the same installation of IB TWS. 1st instance runs on the 1st 32" monitor. 2nd instance runs on a 2nd 32" monitor. IB TWS Settings: IP address 127.0.0.1, Socket Port 7496, Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients. Check SC Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings. 1st instance is running on Server Port 7496. 2nd instance in running on Server Port 11099. 2nd instance is started by going to File >> New Instance.

Chartbooks and Studies for the 1st instance are located under SierraChart >> Data. Chartbooks and Studies for the 2nd instance are located under SierraChart >> SierraChartInstance_2 >> Data. Any changes to studies in Instance 1, need to be copied to this Instance 2 directory for them to appear in Instance 2.

I think you're talking about the sub instance from within the SC. What I am referring to is a separate installation of SC

Yes. I was talking about a sub instance within the main instance. So I misunderstood what you were trying to do.

Yes it does work like that due to how TWS is designed. You really cannot do what you want if you are using a Client ID other than 0. This is just a restriction of TWS for unknown reasons.
