During replay mode, sierra chart is consistently stalling, then crashing causing server reboot. This issue first happened on 12/5/2023. SC had never fully crashed before this, and never caused a reboot. The issue seems to be getting progressively worse as time goes on. now it crashes every time I run a backtest in replay. specs- win server 2022, latest gen i9-13900KS, 128GB ram Latest version of SC, but have tried rolling back as well with no luck. Thanks, BJ |

Sierra Chart is very reliable software, and there are no known issues which would cause an abnormal shutdown. Refer to: Sierra Chart Unexpectedly Shutting Down | Memory Errors | Unusual Software Problems | Exception Errors | Freezing of User Interface If you are running into a server restart, that shows a definite issue with the system itself. Not with Sierra Chart. That is a matter of absolute fact. We would recommend testing the memory of the system. I figured out the problem. Posting hoping it might help anyone who might be experiencing something similar. If you copy an instance of sierra chart, the new instance will use the old chartbook file location, even if the data file is set to look at the new location, it will use the old location for the chartbook. I dont know why. the solution is- after copying an instance of sierra chart, when you open it for the first time, open your chartbook and File>Save As something new. thats all, fixed and no more crashes. |

This might be the case if you are using the "Recent File" list. How were you opening the chartbook in the new instance?
