Displaying Scale Range while scrolling chart

I'm not sure when this was changed with regards to displaying the scale range, but now its not working as well as in the recent versions. I have my charts set to constant range. When I use the hand tool and scroll the chart, at the top of the price scale, it used to display how wide the scale was (ie. 30 points between the low and high price). But now, I can only get it to show me this when I click on the price scale to change the range and drag to increase or decrease it. I would love for it to work like it used to before where it would show me this scale when scrolling chart with the hand tool. Heck, maybe it would be nice if this was a setting and I was able to always display the range at the top of the price scale. Its important to be able to just glance at a chart and know exactly the scale that I'm looking at. In the attached picture, I show what I mean. Thanks. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-12-04 07:27:31

When using the Hand tool with the 'Ctrl' key in Constant Range mode, we are getting the display of the range in the top of the price ladder. We do not think there have been any changes to this lately, but update to the latest release and see if you are still having a problem. I updated to the latest version, 2568, and it still has this different behavior. I made a video to show it to you. On the left is version 2568, and on the right, I downgraded to 2543 for my second instance, so I have two different versions of SC open at once. At first, I use the hand tool to scroll the chart in the new version, and it doesn't show the scale amount, only when I change the scale by clicking on it and sliding it up and down in order to expand or compress it. On the right, the 2543 version, you can see that as soon as I start to scroll the chart with the hand tool, the scale shows up in the top right. I then show that I'm using the same settings for both versions, and I finish the video by showing one more time the effect of just scrolling the chart with the hand tool between the two versions. There is no problem here. This was a problem and it was resolved: On the right, the 2543 version, you can see that as soon as I start to scroll the chart with the hand tool, the scale shows up in the top right.

Could there not be a setting though that allows for the value to always be visible? When you look at a chart, your brain always has to do a calculation to figure out this range. (ie. for ES, low is 4630, high is 4670, so range is around 40). But this means that you're spending time to figure this out. If the market is moving fast, especially if you have the scale range set to automatic, you have no idea high wide the range is. Actually, I just tested it, and when you use the automatic range setting in this new version, you don't even see the scale range value as you compress or expand it by clicking on the scale and holding it as you slide up and down. There is no value visible to tell you how wide the scale is, and you have to look at the high and low numbers and do the calculation in your head to figure this out yourself. I think being able to always see this value is important. On the bottom scale, which is usually time, there is a very clear indication of this scale. (ie. 0, 1, 2, etc) You don't have to count the bar spacing yourself, the value is there to tell you. So I think the Y axis should also have the option to always have a value visible. |
