Hey Sierra - Could you consider creating a new tool for Spreadsheets / other studies? In spreadsheets, we often have a column with a changing number for each Row (like a ratio). Usually, we have to pick numbers using thresholds to recognize a value in that Row. Could you design a tool which assigned a gradient color based on the number in each row? So, the color displayed for 2.4 would be different than 2.5, for all numbers 1-10, but the colors would be very similar to the eye. Does this sound possible? Thanks Sierra. |

It is not likely we would do anything to support programmatic color changes within spreadsheet cells. And in any case, there is no chance anything like this would come for many years. It is not anything to ever wait around for. Regarding colors used for studies, you have full control over that using ACSIL: Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I should clarify - I wasn't talking about changing the colors of a spreadsheet cell. I was talking about a tool that could use color gradients, like color bar or color background. If color Background could display a semi-unique color for each bar, we would not need thresholds. Like the tool could be set to display a range of colors from the color wheel (in the background, or inside a price bar), and apply that color range to a numeric range in a spreadsheet column. For instance, display blue through purple, for all numbers 1-20, where purple = 20 and blue = 1. And 19.5 would be very similar color to 20, but just slightly closer to blue. This project would put Sierra far ahead of the others, because Sierra clients would not be limited to thresholds. But this project is very ambitious and probably too complicated. I know. Is this project possible? Could a 3rd party coder build something like this? Thanks Sierra. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-10-03 16:47:06

This is not complicated. The colors of each individual chart bar can be controlled. This type of programming is all very easy and straightforward. It can be done using ACSIL.
