[Programming Help] - Auto Trading Chart Disabling on it's own

This usually happens when I am backtesting on replay but this custom study button turns off on it's own. Can there be an explanation for this and/or something I need to adjust? I recorded my last backtest and I can clearly see when it turned off. No body touched it. It seems to happen regularly.

Please advise. Thank you.

This is still happening. The ATC button disables on it's own. What would trigger that???? I don't even use it. I use the ATG button (Global). If I remove the ATC button from the control bar would that solve the problem?

I need to know why this is happening so that I can fix it.

I have both ATG and ATC control buttons for all my charts and have never experienced this. Perhaps you should submit a SC support ticket as this does not seem to be programming related. You could try removing and adding the ATC buttom back to control bar to see if that would help.

I appreciate the reply and like you I've never, ever, experienced this, until now. It's happening over and over.

I guess Sierra Chart support doesn't know the answer either. If they don't respond they must be stumped. Thanks.

The ATC button disables on it's own.
What particular study is interacting with this button?

It is just a matter of adding log messages when the state is being changed and identifying the study that is changing it.

I'm not sure but the only study that I can think of that I use is the spreadsheet study for trading. Is there a setting within this study that could cause it to disable? One time it happened right when an alert was triggered but I don't know if that was a coincidence or not.

Which studies actually interact with the ATC button? There can't be very many if any. It just happened again.

So far it seems to only be happening on replay mode but if it starts happening live it will be a big problem. Can you help? I've used this platform for 6 years and have never had this happen until now. Is there a bug in a new version maybe?

I am currently on 2097 version and this is not happening to me either in market replay or live. I also checked and I have ATG and ATC buttons set in control bar 2 just like I show in the attached screenshot. This is SC delivered functionality so are you using this in your platform?

Another possibility could be related to your custom study using "ACS Control Bar# for enable/disable set to custom control bar button", Please confirm and if you do have such a study, just set the button number in your study to some large number like 999 to avoid any possible internal conflict. Hope this helps.

Since you are using the Spreadsheet Study for Trading - do you have anything in cell J28? Refer to the following:

Ok now we understand you are referring to the option to disable automated trading for a chart.

We really are not sure what is disabling that in your case.

Thanks for the reply User 61168. I do use the custom study buttons but I don't understand how they would be related to the ATC button. Does the ATC button have it's own custom study number?

It does not have a custom study number. Is this happening with all your study collections or just one?

Just one. I only use it with one chart. It doesn't seem to happen live but when I'm on replay it happens fairly often. I don't get it.

I don't think a study exists that has an option to turn this button on or off.

I figured out the culprit. Under the 'A' tab in the trade window I have the 'flatten and cancel at set time' set to 1:58pm Pacific Time. I also have the check mark checked for 'and disable auto trading at that time'. So if I'm running a back test on the weekend and all of a sudden it is 1:58pm it will disable the ATC button.

Thank the Lord! That was really bothering me. Thank you for all of the replies.

Glad you were able to sort out this mystery. I recall using this feature in the early days and opted to design the entire "flatten and stop trading" logic within the algo instead of relying on platform settings. One thing lead to another and now I simply use a password-protected "High/Low of Time Period" study to define my trading session/window. Simple, elegant and helps me out with discipline :-)
