3 questions about SierraChart architecture & roadmap

Hi Sierra,

Happy to be back, even if Graphic Settings are still so complicated to change :)

Three questions :

1) I use exclusively Denali, mainly to trade the ES. So the underlying data is always the same. But when I change the trading service (for instance switch from Rithmic to CQG), the data (= Denali data) is downloaded twice, the only difference being the file name, that seems to stick to the trading service instrument name. Same when I set no trading service at all ("SC Data - All services") : the same data is downloaded once again.
Basically today (after re-subscribing) my computer just downloaded 20 gigs of data for 6-7 gigs of distinct data, wasting 13-14 gigs of bandwidth & space. Example with 2022 4th contract : ESZ2.CME (3643147 KB), ESZ2.CME (exact same size) and F.US.EPZ22 (0.01% size difference).
Why is the software architecture made like this ? (i guess there's a historical reason ?) And do you plan to make it a bit more frugal ? (for instance naming the data files according the the data provider instead of the trading service ?)

2) I just discovered a new "Chat" window with a "call" button and a "video call" button. As many great chat/community services already exist and your roadmap is always huge, i guess the reason you're spending some time on this is to include very specific features. Could you say more about this ?

3) I'm interested in Teton routing service, which is currently free of charge. Is it a special introductory offer, or do you really plan to keep it free in the long term ?

Thank you

1) We can not say exactly why the decision was made to implement it in this manner, what we can say is that most people are not changing the Current Selected Service, therefore they would not have multiple data downloads. And, if you are changing your service, then we recommend using multiple installations of Sierra Chart, in which each will get their own data.

2) We are working on this to allow Sierra Chart customers to connect with one another. The main reason we are doing this ourselves it that all the other software out there has flaws and issues and instead of developing forward, they tend to move backwards. We simply could not find anything that met our stringent standards.

3) We expect it to always be free of order routing fees.
For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service:

Thanks for your answer.

Let me suggest/pray that you code two little core features before reinventing Skype :)

A. Improve the usability of the Graphic Settings window by grouping items (Chart, Chartbooks, Candlestick, DOM graph...) in a list on the left side of the window or even a combobox on top of the list. Or by adding a search bar. And sort items alphabetically.

B. Add the ability to Load & Save Graphic settings for a chart. This already exists at the Global level.

Those two features are cheap & easy to code and would massively improve SierraChart ease of use. Seriously.

1. Please do not ask us about this. These are different services, with different symbols. This will never under any circumstances change.

It does not matter the amount of data downloaded. It is what it is.

This is the only sensible design and we will not discuss this further.

I'm talking about a single data service (= Denali) with the same future market (= ES), not different data services with different instruments.

And I can understand that you don't want to answer a question, but please don't tell me not to ask a question. It’s about trust.

Anyway...
