Is this a bug, or a stealth feature? Either way, I lost hundreds of dollars last week due to it

Not sure if it's operator error, but when I have a trade window open and a chart DOM on, I have found a crazy auto-order entry mechanism where if you hit the space-bar on your keyboard, it will enter a limit buy order at the bid. (no sell orders, always buy orders).

This has happened to me before, but only in one-of instances. And upon reflection, it was under similar circumstances. Ordinarily I never hit the space bar intentionally. It so happens that my monitors are not configured properly (which I have now fixed). . But they would-over time-go into sleep mode. And to get them back up, I would typically hit the space bar and click on the screen. [Yes, it has even happened that I have clicked in the DOM and initiated an unintended order that way!] Of course, I do not realize it until the monitor comes back up. Then it is a mad scramble to rectify the damage and get out of the unintended trades. I have lost many hundreds of dollars doing this dance.

My solution, is now to kill the trade window if I am not actively trading, since the space-bar bug is disabled when the Trade Window is closed. However, I have inspected the Trade Window settings, and no-where do I see a way to enable or dis-able entering an order via the space bar. It seems rather freaky that this happens. I can not believe others have not discovered and complained about this Bug/Feature. By the way, if you keep hitting the space bar, it just keeps entering new orders...bizarre! Last week I had the Trade Window set to two contracts. By the time the monitor came back up, I had 3 two-lot orders going! Talk about stress! And I had an order working in the other account too! I had to shut down everything after that due to stress and huge losses. I think you need to fix/disable this!

This kind of an effect is the the result of one of the Trade Window buy/sell buttons having the focus and when you press the spacebar the button becomes pressed by the operating system, and then an order becomes submitted.

However, about three years ago or more we added special code to always remove the focus from those buttons after submitting an order. We will do some testing to see if we can replicate this and see what the problem is.

The problem is now resolved.

We are not quite sure what the reason for the previous logic was, but the focus was only transferred from the Trade Window to the chart if there was an error submitting the order. Not if there was a success submitting the order. Now the focus is always transferred back to the chart if there is an attempt to submit an order.

We suspect the reason why it was done the way it was previously done was based upon some user feedback. Maybe someone wanted to use the keyboard to submit order and want to be able to continue to do that without having to transfer the focus back to the Trade Window.

We also found that the Trade Window receives the focus when it is created and attached to a chart. Now the focus is moved back to the chart, after it is created.

But one thing you need to keep in mind is that it is important to consider that this kind of scenario can occur when interacting with a computer when taking it out of sleep mode or activating the monitor. You should always be aware that you could have inadvertently triggered an order with the trading software.

OK, thanks...that sounds reasonable. Should I download the latest Pre-release to have this update/tweak?
