This costs so much time: I have a chart where I am loading 300 days of the ES, continuos M5 . I am following a teacher and his videos show different trading situations during the last year. I do replay these situations. I have downloaded all this data. Each time I load a day from the past it takes 2-3 minutes to load ALL of the data - the same data that has been downloaded hundred times before and is stored on my hard-drive in the SC data folder. Each time I use the " |

When you start a replay, the data is loaded from the local file on your storage drive. There is no downloading of data which occurs. How far back in time are you starting the replay? As I wrote, I am replaying my teachers trades. They are everywhere between 2 days and 200 days back. It would not make sense to load single contracts. Okay, so no data is being downloaded. But if the dayta is on the hard drive, why does it take that time to prepare it for the replay. As I said, the replay is not just starting, but loading that data from the first day to the last day. Is can't believe this is what it is meant to be, but I cannot find a reason to believe that something is not working correctly on Sierras side. Is there a command to tell the software: "Don't load all that stuff at the beginning of the replay. The data is already there. Just take whats there and start the replay now!" |

From Jupitersbay on 2022-09-08 Is there an answer to the question? The main question was: When doing a Replay, why is there a difference between jumping forwards (immediately without loading) and "jumping backwards", where all the data is reloaded and I don't see why this is necessary - since it has been loaded at the start of the replay anyway. Plus, its not "new" data, nothing has changed. |

The data loading performance will be improved by setting the Intraday Data Storage Time Unit to 1 second or higher: Data/Trade Service Settings: Intraday Data Storage Time Unit (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings) But if the data is on the hard drive, why does it take that time to prepare it for the replay.
When jumping backwards, the chart has to be reloaded. This cannot change. You need to avoid jumping backwards. Normally there should not be a need for this. If there is a specific date range you want to replay, then set that date range to load through the Chart Settings: Chart Settings: Load Data Limiting Method: Date Range >> Date Range From / To (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Load Data Limiting Method: Date Range menu) This will make the replay much faster.
