Hi team, I just subscribed to SC again with Denali and your brilliant Trade Evaluator for some Sim trading. However when I load my old templated (which I used when I traded live) it still shows the live account number and I cannot sim trade (It doesn't seem to let me change the account to a sim account for some reason. Could you please help? |

The first thing that we can point you to is the place to change the account. Refer to the information here: Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Trade Account (Selecting Trade Account for Chart / Trade DOM) If that selection is not showing, then you can turn it back on by ensuring the option on the Trade window for M >> Settings >> Hide Trade Account List is not selected. Refer to the following: Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Menu >> Settings >> Hide Trade Account List And finally, the only thing we can think of as to why your account would not be showing is that perhaps you do not have a Simulated Futures Trading Account setup yet? Refer to the instructions for setting up an account at the following, if this is the case: Simulated Futures Trading Service: Setup Instructions For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you however that didn't seem to fix it. I have tried it on a new installation and as soon as I load my old chartbook that I used with a live account it starts showing that old account number in my trading Dom and there is no other option in the dropdown. It also doesn't allow me to set the trading mode to Simulation (although that might be since I am not connected to a live trading server). I am connected to the Trade Evaluator in DTS. Even in the new install without loading the chartbook, when I try to enter a position on the trading dom using the default sim account it throws this message: New testaccount123 is not authorized. |

Strange, I just worked out a fix. If I start a 2nd instance within SC it works right away and I can activate Sim Mode. I don't understand but at least it's a work-around for now... |

What you are doing with the second instance is not a workaround, as you are just running in Simulation Mode. The first thing to understand is that when you are connected to the Trading Evaluator you are performing your simulation within that environment. This is why the "Simulation Mode" is not available when you are connected to the Trading Evaluator. You are able to put a sub-instance into Simulation Mode because it does not really know what trading service you are connected to, it connects to the primary instance and sends all the information through there. Refer to the following for more information on setting Simulation Mode when using the Trading Evaluator: Simulated Futures Trading Service: Using Internal Sierra Chart Trade Simulation Mode -- It sounds like you do not have an account setup with the Trading Evaluator service. Please go through the Setup Instructions and either create a new account, or verify that you have an existing one that is properly setup: Simulated Futures Trading Service: Setup Instructions For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you for your response. I am now connected to the SC Data - All services feed and it works perfectly in my sim environment now. So it was all due to being connected to the Trading Evaluator feed. Is there an actual quality difference between the two outside of the ability to be evaluated in real-time? Can I not simply trade in Sim with SC Data for a realistic simulation environment? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2022-06-30 18:25:22

There are some other differences between the Trading Evaluator and Simulation Mode. The biggest one being that since the Trading Evaluator is on a server that we manage, when you submit your trades, they are being held "Server Side", rather than on your local computer. This means that you can turn off your Sierra Chart, but your trades will still be active. This is also more realistic, since this is what happens when you place a live trade. There are other items as well, but nothing too big. If you are comfortable with Simulation Mode, then stick with it. If you want to read more about the Trading Evaluator, then refer to the information at the following link: Simulated Futures Trading Service For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
