I purchased the Sierra Chart Historical Daily and Intraday Data Service and the following futures symbols have missing/incomplete data:
GV - all data missing
HE - data stops Feb 13 2014
GF - no data before Apr 28 2014
GC - no volume data for Feb 2014
SI - no volume data for March 2014
HG - no volume data for March 2014
For GC/SI/HG no data before 2010
PL - only one day of data (today)
SB - no data before 2010
I'm just a third of the way through my list but several of the remaining symbols are missing data as well

I have 'Continuous Futures Contract - Volume based rollover, backadjusted' selected and the symbols loaded are the current most liquid symbol

In the case of Intraday charts, there may not be any data before 2010. That can be expected for some contracts. So this is not considered an issue.

We need to understand this problem better for each individual symbol and we need to see an image of the chart. However, PLEASE only post an image of one chart. And no others. Follow these instructions:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=PostingInformation.php#Image

Once again post an image only of one single chart and no others.

I don't use any intraday charts - only daily/weekly/monthly. I'll send you a screenshot when I get home tonight

OK this is enough information for us. We can do some testing on these and see what the problem is.

The reason for the delay is because we need to go through each of the symbols. We have looked at HE and we see a problem, not with missing data but with the rollover dates because some of the delivery months are not active and need to be removed.

Another issue we think you encountered is that you exceeded the limit of the number of historical data requests per day. This is the only explanation as to why you would not have all the data.

So in that case you need to re-download the data for the contracts which you do not have data for. The easiest thing to do is to select File >> Open Historical Chart and any files which are less than 1K should be deleted. After that select Edit >> Reload All Charts to cause the data to be downloaded.

Here is a chart of gold and it looks good:

So for this one, the only possible cause would be that you are missing data from some of the historical daily data files. Follow our instructions in the prior post about this.

We need to set up the rollover rules for Natural Gas on ICE. How come you do not look at the natural gas contract on the CME?

Also when rollover rules are defined for a symbol, the most stable building of Continuous Futures Contract charts will be when using Date-based rollover.

When posting an image, only post images of single charts. That is all we can accept. And we do not need to see more than one chart per symbol. Anything else will be disregarded. At this point, do not post any further images. We will not be looking at them.

I do trade NG, too, but GV/NG have no correlation so I trade them both

We are still working through these. We appreciate your patience as we have been very busy lately.

We have set up rollover rules for GV. Update the Symbol Settings as explained here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_GlobalSymbolSettings.php#UpdateSettings

After updating the settings you need to reload the data in the chart with Chart >> Reload and Recalculate.

GF:

Update the Symbol Settings as explained here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1399608179119.png

After this you will need to reload the HE chart with Chart >> Reload and Recalculate.

One other thing came to mind, on Sierra Chart package 3, you will be limited to the number of years you can get Continuous Futures Contract data for. With package 5, there is a higher limit.

You can also get very long-term Continuous Futures Contract charts using the Sierra Chart Historical Data service by using a symbol format like this:
[futures route symbol]#. Example: GC#

These are very long-term fast downloading charts, but the problem is the rollover dates are not exactly what would be expected. They rollover at the final trading day of each contract.

Here is SI:
http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1400051273889.png

The volume data looks correct.

Here is HG:
http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1400051552791.png

The volume data looks good. No problems with default settings.

We have verified you can go to 7 years back on package 3 for Continuous Futures Contract charts. Although every day there is a historical data query limit of 700 requests a day. Which is more than plenty but if you are downloading a lot of data within one day this can be a problem. Once the data is downloaded for a particular historical contract, it will not be done again.

The sugar contract looks good as it is:

One other thing we may not have mentioned is that to get data further back in time you need to increase to Days to Load in Chart >> Chart Settings.
