Have you guys had any reports from other users about text windows/(or other dialog boxes) being stuck in the background after they were closed?

When I hover over the Sierra Chart icon I can see that there are a bunch of text windows boxes and rollover boxes stuck in the background.

Could you help me with how to get rid of them?

We have never heard of anything like this before.

Very unlikely there is a problem.

Some windows when you close them they just remain hidden like the Trade Orders window.

If you are experiencing something unusual, it would have to be an operating system level issue which is outside of our control. Since the release, of operating systems after Windows 7, Windows is unreliable and in a state of deterioration and there are so many problems with it.

I see. Some colleagues had the same issue. Interestingly another one just happened.

I had a chartbook, in which I closed a couple of charts that I would not use anymore. When I closed this chartbook and opened it again, the only visible charts were the ones I closed.

Looking forward, would you recommend using Linux for a better Sierra Chart performance? If yes, could you point out some of your documentation about the SC usage in conjunction with Linux for me to take a look at it?

Thank you for your response.

We absolutely do not recommend Linux. We think you would suffer worse problems.

This does not make any sense at all:
When I closed this chartbook and opened it again, the only visible charts were the ones I closed.

This could not possibly be true if you have saved the Chartbook before closing. Be sure to save the Chartbook after making changes to it:
Chartbooks (Workspaces): To Save a Chartbook

And check the Window >> Message Log for any errors related to saving the Chartbook. Maybe there is an error.

Yep. This is exactly what happened after I saved it.

I even updated to the latest version of SC and tried to start a chartbook from scratch. What happens is that I have 11 chartbooks opened and whenever I try to create or open the 12th one, all these issues happen. While trying to re-create the referred chartbook from scratch and after I tried to add any study to a chart, SC would not even allow me to tweak any settings of any study I tried to add. I could only mess with the alert tab of the study settings window. The other tabs are completely gray, which is the background color of the settings box.

I also checked the message log and I am receiving the following messages:

c_Chart::CreateDetachableWindow: Error creating the MDI child window. | 2022-05-08 22:06:23.678 *

Chart (ZCN2.CBOT) | Error creating the Trade Window. | 2022-05-08 22:06:23.191 *

What you mean is the Windows operating system is not letting you do this!!. This is a Windows operating system problem. Not Sierra Chart! This is not a Sierra Chart issue at all. It is a Windows operating system issue!

These are Windows operating system errors:

c_Chart::CreateDetachableWindow: Error creating the MDI child window. | 2022-05-08 22:06:23.678 *

Chart (ZCN2.CBOT) | Error creating the Trade Window. | 2022-05-08 22:06:23.191 *

The solution to this, is to use sub instances of Sierra Chart:
Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance

Got it. After I followed the link that was inside this topic:

these issues were fixed and I was able to open the chartbook file and tweak its study settings.

Thank you.
