The first thing you need to do is to follow the instructions at the following link to connect your Sierra Chart to your CQG account: CQG Trading Platform Service: Setup Instructions After you get that done, then open your chartbooks and select Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service, as this will change your symbols to be what is needed for CQG. Then you need to complete the Denali Exchange Data Feed setup by activate the exchanges you want at the following link: https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=DenaliDataFeed After that you will be all set to get the data from the Denali feed and trade with AMP. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I am almost ready to switch to Denali data feed, keeping CQG order routing and AMP as a broker. Is it better to do the change on the first day of the new month for billing reasons? I read on the forum that you guys are not big fan of Windows 10 too so I was thinking to do the huge step to ditch it for Ubuntu: do you have any very basic user guide to do that? Thank you for all your work |

In general, it is best to wait for the first of the month, as you have already paid for the data from CQG for this month. Just make sure you have told your broker to stop the data from CQG at the end of this month. But, it also depends on what exchanges you want, as they may be cheap enough that making the switch now is no big deal (if you just need one CME Group exchange without market depth, the cost is only $1.25). As much as there are issues with Windows, it is the Operating System we for which Sierra Chart is built. We do not directly support Linux. For information on using Sierra Chart with Linux search through the Support Board using the word "Linux" there are a number of posts on the subject, one of which is entitled "Linux" and is quite long. Ok so, I am ready to change the data feed from CQG to Denali from May 1st. I already asked AMP to quit the billing for CQG data feed from the end of the trading day today and tomorrow I will enable the CQG No data/order routing only option. 1st May is a Sunday so I can subscribe to the new Sierra Chart package including Denali without paying twice the CME fee and try to work things out before Monday's trading session. Is it enough to be ok? Is it the correct way to make the switch? |

Yes, you are doing exactly what you need to do. The setup instructions for the CME Group data from our Denali Exchange Data Feed is at the following link: Denali Exchange Data Feed For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

ok, I think I have done all correctly. I converted the symbols and all my old charts are populated now. I only have one question about the [M] indicator after the Symbol on the top line of the chart or Trade DOM. I see it on the DOM for ESM22 (on the main instance) but I see a different [CV] indicator on the charts of the same instrument on a second instance: should I contact Sierra Chart Support about this? Ok, everything looks like working perfectly fine. The data feed "feels" incredibly fast and solid: I use a 200 ms delay and with CQG it definitely seemed slower and less fluid. Denali looks like I am using a faster refresh rate. If this can be helpful, I was scared by the seemingly complicated procedure to switch data feed: I delayed at least 6 months or more because the instructions were intimidating. If I knew that it was so easy, I would have done it before. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2022-05-02 14:06:33

It's not really hard, but the CME requirement regarding a trading account adds complexity and makes it sound scary. With regards to the items in the Chart Header, the [M] is the indicator that you are getting the data from Sierra Chart. Refer to the following: Chart Data and Chart Data Files: The Meaning of the [M] Designation after a Symbol The [CV] is an indicator of a Continuous Futures Contract. Refer to the information here: Continuous Futures Contract Charts: Text Indicator Description Table For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
