HI SC Support, I recently switched to SC using the Denali datafeed (I used to use Rithmic). I am trying to make the data displayed on my DOM as smooth as possible, I find the dom skipping prices and stuttering at random intervals. I have gone through the recommended documentation for setting up the Denali data feed, Prices / Data Falling Behind, and other posts where you have assisted people with their dom updated speed. Firstly I am using two instances of SC, the first one is running my DOM (Only ES) and the second instance is running all my charts. On the first SC instance, I have tried changing the remote buffer delay to over 100ms, however, this seems to make the stuttering worse. I find I need to keep it below 75ms. All my DOMs are running at 100ms anything higher also introduces a stuttering effect. I have looked at different compression settings not sure which one I should use given my location. I have looked at Monitoring Sierra Chart Data Feed Performance from Perspective of Server: The ServerSendBufferSizeInBytes is well over 100k most of the other fields (from the support page), are in line with the recommended ranges. Are there any other settings, you would recommend I look at? I am based in South Africa so I know there is a bit of distance between myself and the exchange. I don't mind the data being delayed by a few milliseconds. However, I find the dom stuttering very frustrating. Not comparing my experiences but when I was using Rithmic the data coming into the dom felt smooth and didn't stutter. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2022-03-08 09:22:28

First it is fully impossible for us to do anything about Internet connectivity. And this absolutely does relate to Internet connectivity. This is definitely an indication of poor Internet connectivity somewhere between your computer and the server: The ServerSendBufferSizeInBytes is well over 100k most of the other fields (from the support page), are in line with the recommended ranges. The data will have to be delayed if the buffer is this large. How much of a delay are you noticing?Provide us about 20 of these messages so we can get a better understanding of this. But in the end, we cannot change the result. One thing that came to mind is your ISP may be degrading data transmission on the port being used for real-time data. Thanks for the feedback, I definitely understand that it is my internet connection to the data feed. I have about a 20ms route to the international gateway but it takes another 200ms to reach the data feed (Aurora CME datacentre). The delay is not such an issue, it is more the data coming into the DOM in bursts that gives it that stuttering effect. I tried to set the remote buffer delay to 200ms, however, it increases the stuttering effect on my DOM as I described before. It also made the NumberOfOutstandingSendBuffers increase compared to running it at default settings. I made a few changes, and it seems to be working pretty well at the moment (not too sure how many of them would actually affect the performance) Updated to the preRelease version Changed the remote buffer delay interval to 0 (default) - I see on the heartbeat it fluctuates between 75 and 100ms. I changed my Real-time data feed port to 443, not too sure if I noticed a huge difference but I think it did help it (thanks for the advice). One thing I do find is that if it is stuttering. I disconnect and reconnect to the data feed, I am not too sure if it connects to a different server or something but it definitely helps. And then once connected it works perfectly. |
