Hi Support,

I still have issues with loading and high Memory usage.

There are no issue with Windows Security or the Firewall.

BUT

Something happens when Sierra Charts is started.

1) When Sierra Charts is started, and the chartbook begins to load one instrument (ES), with 10 ES charts, all the charts load, except the 3 Point and Figure intraday charts.
What I have to do is go to File/Disconnect, then the PnF starts to load (see attached jpg Loading ES chart)
2) Then, it takes about 8-9 minutes to load these 3 charts, (see attached jpg Loading ES chart) I thought the historical data was save to the hard drive so it doesn't have to reloaded at every Sierra Chart start up

3) Also 5-6 Gig of Memory is used (see attached Memory jpg) and the response time is slow.

4) Once all the charts are loaded and start to watch the DOM chart, the response time is very choppy, the price moves between ~ 4-6-8 ticks at a time. My trades are placed on this chart. This jumpy, laggy, sticky response time makes it totally impossible to trade.

5) After about 1-2 hours (see attached Memory jpg)the 5-6 Gig of memory drops down to 500-900 MB and the laggy, sticky response starts to improve but not like it use to be.

6) How do you minimize the Trade Service and Message log. Control-M works for a few minutes but the logs pop up within a few minutes and are also in my viewing area.

I really what to resolve these issues and would appreciate your help.

Kind Regards,
Daniel

1. You absolutely do not have to disconnect. This is 100% irrelevant.

We do not understand what you are trying showing in the screenshot.

2, 3. This is based upon chart configuration, and your system hardware. You need a faster system, and need to put Sierra Chart on a dedicated solid-state drive:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.29 - Solid State Drives / SSD

Also reduce the amount of days of data loaded in the chart:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.1 - Too Much Data to Load or Loaded

4. Refer to
Chart Trading and the Chart DOM: Improving Performance Of Chart / Trade DOM

You need to distribute processing load across multiple instances.

5. The changes in memory use are managed by the operating system and we have no idea why you see that behavior. Sierra Chart is not changing memory like that if you are not closing charts or changing Chart Settings, which would have an impact.

6. Give us the messages that are causing the log to open?

----

And chart number #4 is loading over 2000 days days of data. Probably this is tick by tick data? You certainly are going to wait quite some time for that to load.

Hi Support,

Thank you for your reply and help.
I am using a Intel i7-1065G7 CPU with 16 GB of Ram. I'm hoping this is sufficient. (I am looking into adding a Samsung 970 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD as suggested).

As an update to your suggestions, I have to admit that I had no idea how much another instance would help.
I updated Sierra Charts and then added a "New Instance".
The "New Instance" is where the trading DOM with Number Bars study is the main chart.

Then removed the trading DOM from the "Main" Sierra Charts.
The performance is so much better and when I look at the Memory and the CPU usage in the Task Manager, it looks much better.

I heard about a adding a "New Instance" in the past but had NO idea it would help this much.

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Definitely do use an NVME drive dedicated for Sierra Chart.

Another question:

In my ES chartbook I have a couple of Point and Figure charts.
In the attached screen shot the upper chart is a 54 tick PnF chart.
I want to load 10+ years of continuous ES data, so, naturally it takes a long time to load.

If "historcal data" is used, the chart automatically changes to a daily chart and that data defaults to daily data as per the second chart (bottom)

I seems that I am "forced" to use intraday data.

Isn't there some kind of "historical/intraday data" available, or another way to accomplish this?

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Post #6 is not exactly what you are looking for. You do need to set the chart bars to Daily bars using a Historical Daily data and not use the Point and Figure Intraday Bar Period setting and instead use this study:
Point and Figure Chart
