Numbers Bar Calculated Values in Alert Formulas

Problem Summary: For certain subgraphs, the Numbers Bar Calculated Values study is providing incorrect values to formulas. It appears the NBCV study is returning prices as whole numbers in certain subgraphs, but only in certain cases. Case 1 (works): Set the [subgraph] SG42 (Point of Control Value) draw style to [visible] and it will display the correct price. Case 2 (fails): Refer to SG42 in a CBBOAC formula, and it will only match when SG42 is a whole number (e.g., 4688 but not 4688.75). Setup: 1) ESH22, 1.75 Range Bar, bar POC is at 4681.25 (as displayed by NBCV.SG42) 2) Create a CBBOAC and vary the formula while observing the results. Here are my results: formula: IDx.SG42>4681.00 is false!, IDx.SG42=4681.25 is false!, IDx.SG42=4681.00 is TRUE! If I substitute Numbers Bar Point of Control study for the NBCV study, the above works as expected. Likewise, if I use Study Subgraph Above/Below Bar As Text study to display SG42, and I then reference this subgraph instead of SG42, the formula works correctly. It appears that when the subgraph SG42 is directly referenced in a formula, the NBCV value type is incorrect somehow. NOTE: I believe a similar problem exists with NBCV SG37 and SG38 (High/Low Pullback Ask/Bid Vol Diff). They display correctly, but when referenced in a CBBOAC they only match against the value of zero. In other words, only this formula matches regardless of the actual SG value displayed: IDx.SG37=0 Date Time Of Last Edit: 2022-01-09 00:33:35

Dear Engineering: I have read the section you referenced. Can you please tell me how to work around the following limitation it creates: See attached chart: In order to display properly formatted bid/ask quantities, deltas, and volume in chart area 2 I have [value format] set to "1" in the Numbers Bar Calculated Values study. Anything else (including "inherited") will display fractionated values. Question: How can I still make use of the price-related subgraphs in a CBBOAC formula without breaking the formatting of how the NBCV matrix is displayed in chart area 2? Out of curiosity, I tried setting the CBBOAC [value format] to "0.01" but that didn't work, of course. Therefore, I'm forced to into a dilemma... display the matrix and lose formulaic ability, or the opposite. Is there any way to resolve this? Observation: The response does not address the issue with NBCV SG37 and SG38, both of which are numeric and should have properly evaluated given the [value format] of "1" in the NBCV study. There is not support for this: Question: How can I still make use of the price-related subgraphs in a CBBOAC formula without breaking the formatting of how the NBCV matrix is displayed in chart area 2?
What you can do though is use a hidden Numbers Bars Calculated Values study with the appropriate Value Format and reference that. Regarding (High/Low Pullback Ask/Bid Vol Diff), we are not observing any issue: https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1641701222548.png The Color Bar study formula is: ID1.SG37>100 Make sure you have enabled the historical pullback data: Chart Settings: Historical Pullback Data (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Chart Data menu) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Problem Description: The Numbers Bar study is correctly displaying the Historical Pullback Ask/Bid Volume Difference in the chart display (In:84 = YES). However, both sets of numbers come back as zeros (0) when referenced from the Numbers Bar Calculated Values study. I do have historical pullback enabled (as evidenced by the values being displayed). I have attempted to display these values via Study Subgraph Above/Below Bar as Text, and they display as zero (0). I have also tried to reference them in a CBBOAC formula, and both sets of values evaluate to zero (0) each time. Please see the attached screenshots, as well as the privately attached chartbook. |

The system limited me to two (2) attachments. Here is the chartbook (private).

You need to have the Pullback subgraphs in the Numbers Bars Calculated Values study set to "Visible" in order to get the data for those subgraphs. Unlike other subgraphs in the Numbers Bars Calculated Values study, these are not calculated unless you have them displayed. Also, you have both the Study Subgraphs Above/Below Bar As Text set to the same subgraph.
