After updating to SC 2333 I have several stock symbols with issues. i second this. this is my 4th re-installation of newer version than 2282 and I can attest that several interactive broker symbols are all broken. i have been posting about this since early this evening. i followed direction to update the symbols which did NOT resolve the issues. i have posted this same issues multiple times in the past and doing so again on various threads. The SC team is ignoring the fact that they have broken the damn IBKR support. here is the same log as the above user on a brand new install (again, I also posted in the past that if I use version 2282, this will work just fine). here are previous threads i thought i had messed up but i know i can use 2282 just fine with IBKR. DOM does not display depty data older than 5 days wont load for intraday chart... :( |

This is not true at all: The SC team is ignoring the fact that they have broken the damn IBKR support.
You need to use the proper symbol format required by Interactive Brokers. You cannot complain to us about what is required by Interactive Brokers. Interactive Brokers has no support whatsoever for a simplified stock format. It does not exist.. Supporting a simplified stock format for US stocks, is only provided as a convenience and is not guaranteed to work. At any time, there can be an issue due to changes on the Interactive Brokers side. Anyway we have looked into this and we now see why there is a problem. Sierra Chart no longer specifies the default currency code of USD when SMART is used, in this case in the background, because that is not valid. That was being done in the past. Although this change was back in March 2020. So not recent. So if there was a problem after that date that has occurred, it certainly is not clear to us at all why that is the case. In the case of a symbol like AAPL there were no custom symbol settings set up for it but we have done that now. Follow the instructions here to update the Symbol Settings: Global Symbol Settings: Update Global Symbol Settings So there never has been any real problem on the Sierra Chart side. You just need to use the complete symbol format and that is something that we have specified, more than a year ago. Thank you. I looked at the documentation at Interactive Brokers Symbols: Stock Format and have a couple of follow-up questions. 1. Should I determine the "Specified Exchange and Primary Exchange Format" when the stock symbol is flagged as ambiguous in the log? If so, where should I lookup the Primary Exchange information to derive the correct format: [stock symbol]-STK-[exchange / primary exchange]-USD? Am I able to get the correct format from the IB Trader Workstation? 2. Do you want to have stock symbols, which need to have a custom entries added, submitted to SC so they work for everyone or should I utilize the "Specified Exchange and Primary Exchange Format" on my SC client? As a follow-up from my initial post these are the additional symbols which work successfully with v2318 but are no longer working with v2333. would you please do us a favor and give us a walk through on how to solve this? i have tried symbol setting and added USD as currency. Also tried modifying the custom symbol xml but not working. I have provided those screen shots. even if you can just share the correct xml sample for stock (aapl for example) and future (ES for example) we would really appreciate it. I use IB all the time here. I am trading equity and equity options directly from SC. I can had that i pay to get the data feed from SC ( its way faster and more reliable ) So, What I do to get rid of most of the bugs, when I have some, Is to kill ( delete ) my subinstance and reload it. As I never use the main instance for anything ( its the main download node for all sub ) And like that , each time I had some bugs, It got fixed. maybe it will help on your side. thank you @GravisHTG by any chance do you see issues with getting stocks data with similar issues? if so how did you resolve them? I will use your approach you have described above - however i still cant get some of the NQ data (e.g. above errors) with newer versions of SC. I am using 2282 with success. |

I just edit the top post, I use SC feed , but All data is there for sure , you need to make sure you have the right symbol too... ( But I remember , IB data feed is very bad and slow. And its not only on SC , I tried it on NT8 and its even worst , Minute and daily is the minimun you can got with IB feed on NT8 ) I only use IB data feed for options now as , SC does not have any feed for it. ( and I try to put it to 1 day of pulling data only , and even sometimes its very slow and I never get historical intraday data ) For future , I got denali data for 4$ a month , no level 2. but very reliable The program is very picky like for an option , I have to write SPY-OPT-20211203-453-P-SMART-100-USD For Future contract like NQ and ES , i use the NQ-202112-GLOBEX but I find that symbol by going in the F5 menu of the chart and find under symbol Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-12-08 20:31:57

I also have downgraded back to version 2315 as any newer versions cause problems with multiple stock symbols when using IB data.

You should not edit the file directly, rather add a new symbol, or copy an existing symbol and setup the new symbol through Global Settings >> Symbol Settings.
