I have a chartbook with a number of charts on it with historic day data. To update each chart with a new days data, i open the chartbook and that updates each chart. The PROBLEM is that if i am not connected to the internet when I open the chartbook, each chart in that chartbook will then not update with new data once i do connect to the internet. If it was one chart, i could just delete and reload the data, BUT as I have 20 charts on the chartbook, it would mean doing each chart individually. I guess each chart in the chartbook thinks it has updated when it hasn't, how do i overcome this issue? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-11-30 09:46:22

When you connect to the Internet, Sierra Chart should automatically download any missing historical data. If it really is not doing this for you, then we want you to select File >> Disconnect and then select File >> Connect to Data Feed. Let us know if this does not work.

I get the data from 'SC Services - All data' and Sierra always shows 'Not connected' but normally each Chart in the opened Chartbook updates with the latest Day data. So will File >> Disconnect and then select File >> Connect to Data Feed....do anything? I ask because I can try to test the issue by not being connected to the internet, then open a Chartbook in order to get the download to fail, but although after I close Sierra and restart it some time later and most Charts will update then, not all do and its a pain to find which have not and delete and reload the data The problem is that I have 20 Chartbooks each with 20 Charts which is the daily method i use to download the latest Historic Day data...it would be good to know if there is another way such as with 'Intraday File Update List'? You have us very confused on the exact situation that is occurring. When you start Sierra Chart, and you state that it shows "Not Connected", are you connected to the Internet, or is Sierra Chat not connected because you are not connected to the Internet? The "Not Connected" is an indicator set up on my Custom Control bar If I want data from the TWS, I would hit Connect and once i confirm the connection on TWS, "Not Connected" changes to "Connected" But when i get the data from 'SC Services - All data', the indicator on the Custom Control bar stays showing "Not connected" and the data comes through without me hitting Connect Hence I asked if your suggestion to File >> Disconnect and then select File >> Connect to Data Feed....would do anything in this case where I am getting Historic Data from yourselves? Again, the problem is that if my computer is not connected to the internet when i open a chartbook that the chart update of Historic Day data fails, even when i then connect to the internet, the chart update does not get initiated, even if i close and reopen the chartbook with the chart, or restart SC Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-12-01 10:52:07

The first set of situations we understand. When your Service is is set to SC Data - All Services and you are not connected to the data feed, the system does still get the historical data. That is normal. And it also makes sense that if your service is set to SC Data - All Services and your Internet is not connected, that the historical data retrieval will fail and will not try again, even when the Internet is connected again. But, in this scenario, when your Internet connection is back, if you "Connect to the Data Feed", you should get all your data. Also, exiting from Sierra Chart and then starting again, should get your historical data, as well as closing and reopening the Chartbook. A few points so I make sure I understand how SC works when the data is from SC Data - All services. I mean I understand it except i am unsure of 'Connect' in relation to SC Data - All services 1. I will receive historic daily data the moment i open a chartbook with charts or a chartbook? 2. 'Connect' acts as a reset to create a new request for data for any already open chartbooks or charts? 3. If I do a 'Disconnect' while data is downloading, would the data continue to download? 4. Is there no way to do a historic daily data download from SC Data - All services in the same way i can setup an 'Intraday File Update List'? 5. if its not possible to use an automated method, is there anyway to simplify it rather than having to open chartbooks with multiple charts?
