Hi,

I've been kicking the tires for a few days now and quirks aside, I quite like the software. However, I use it under Wine on Linux where it works perfectly fine and is very stable. Is there a chance you will switch to something like .NET that would make Wine support tenuous or is it likely that the tech stack will remain as is for the foreseeable future? I would not want to commit to using it if there is a plan to make Wine support impossible.

Thanks.

Hell no. Microsoft is a demonic company. And Bill Gates is evil and guilty of crimes against humanity. These last two sentences are said with absolute seriousness. Deadly seriousness.

The last remaining Microsoft evil within Sierra Chart is in the process of being removed.

Actually, I'm curious how on earth you plan to do this. At the very least, you need Win32?

What we are referring to is the Microsoft foundation classes within Sierra Chart. Yes, Sierra Chart still does need to use, the core Windows OS libraries. But the use of those is as minimal as possible. And we would no longer be using the Microsoft API for dialog windows.

MFC I understand, but if you do custom windows that could give issues on Wine, then I would have to use the devil's operating system :-(

We are already using the custom windows. Most of the Settings dialogs that you see are using the new format. Go to Global Settings >> Chart Trade Settings for one example that shows the various interface methods.

Then I can stay away from the devil's operating system for one more year!
