Dear Sierra Chart team,

I am using the latest version of SC and SC - Data All services package to load crypto data from Binance. However, when using Number Charts in Sierra, I see that the sum of Bid/Ask volumes for each row does not match the "volume" number shown in the second column. Also, when I show the volume profile, the lengths of the bars do not match with VPC and/or bid/ask volumes. Please see the attached screenshots for more information. I read all the tutorial documents and watched some Youtube channels; however, I couldn't solve this issue. Can you please help with that? Thank you!

We will have to spend some time dealing with the underlying issue related to this, which is that the very large volumes that are occurring for these kind of instruments is overwhelming the storage that we use for the Numbers Bars. This is why you are seeing the negative values in the Total Volume column (column 2).

The short-term solution (workaround) is to use a Volume/Open Interest Multiplier that will reduce the values to a smaller number, like using a multiplier of 0.001, which will reduce the numbers by 1000. You will just have to keep in mind that the values have been reduced by this amount when you are reviewing the data. Refer to the information here:
Chart Settings: Volume and Open Interest Multiplier (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol Settings menu)

I just changed the settings based on your instructions for now, and it seems that everything is working in that particular chart. However, that would be great if the SC team could kindly solve the underlying issue to have consistency between all charts/analysis in a chartbook. Thank you, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

There is no practical solution we can provide for this. In the case of crypto currencies, being that these use fractional quantities in some cases, and Sierra Chart does not support fractional quantities is the reason for the issue.

So, in other words, does that mean it's always better for the users to use the solution provided in this thread when studying cryptocurrency data in SC? Thank you!

Hi SC Team,

For some reason, SC doesn't save the settings for "Volume and Open Interest Multiplier" mentioned in this thread. Actually, I have to change this value (for every single chart in my chartbook) every time I run SC or change the symbol. By any chance, can you help me please? Thank you!

It should definitely be keeping that value when you restart Sierra Chart, unless you are not saving your Chartbook. Be sure you save the Chartbook after you make the change to that setting and then when you restart Sierra Chart, it should stay the same.

It will change when you change Symbols. If you want to have a specific multiplier for certain symbols, then you can update the Symbol Settings for those symbols to have that setting set to a specific value. That way, when you change the symbol, it will use the values in the Symbol Settings. Refer to the following for more information:

Thanks for your reply, John! However, I always save my chartbooks (actually that was part of my debugging process before I put a comment here). However, for some reason, these settings change when I re-open SC. Anyways, thank you for your time answering me here.

It should not be changing as long as you are saving the Chartbook. Now you have us curious as to why this might be happening.

Can you please attach the chartbook to this thread for us to take a look at your settings and see why this might be occurring. You can attach a chartbook by following these instructions:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile

Note that you can attach the chartbook as a private file so only Sierra Chart personnel can see it.
