Hello,

Sierra Chart has released a new stock market statistics data feed included with packages 3 and 5. To access this new data feed you need to update to the current version of Sierra Chart.

We have found that many users after updating Sierra Chart, could still not access this data feed without them having to Update or perform a Full reset of the Symbol Settings.

This puzzled us because the symbol settings are automatically updated when necessary. We did finally determine the cause of this problem and it is now resolved in version 1103.

Therefore, if you have any trouble accessing the new market statistics data feed, update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease and you should be able to access the data feed after the update.

Also with the release of 1102 , the old market statistics data feed symbols are automatically converted to the new ones. Therefore, there is now a seamless automatic way to use this new data feed without any user intervention, other than updating.

I have just updated to #1107, but Mkt. Stats still not working. And plenty of indexes not working. On the attached screenshot, the Yellow-tinted group are not working, whereas the Blue-tinted group do update in more or less Real Time. (Please note that for Stats, I have included some of Old, as well as New symbols, but neither will update.) In addition, my data/TS setting is set to SC Exchange.

How can I get this to update both Stats & Indexes?

Perform a Full Reset of the symbol settings according to the instructions here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_GlobalSymbolSettings.php#FullResetSymbolSettingsSteps

Many of the symbols we see in the attached image are not supported by the "SC Exchange Data" service. Only use the symbols you find in File >> Find Symbol. We have now added the market statistics symbols to that list.

OK, thx for the above...it worked. However, two issues:

1. Indexes ($INX, $DOWI for example) appear to be about 45 minutes delayed, yet I am on the Realtime data plan.

2. New Symbol mapping for Futures, under SC Forex convention such as SP500 do not yield any data whatsoever. Do they require some suffix maybe? I tried it on both Historical and Intraday, but no result either way.

1. These require an exchange fee. You can enable the exchanges here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php?page=MarketDataFeedFeatures

2. We do not see a problem with this. In the copy of Sierra Chart connected to the SC Forex data service, provide a copy of the Message Log. Follow these instructions:

Ok, but with respect to #2, I have two questions:

a) My DTS setting is to Sierra Chart EXchange. You have at least 3 possible SC data settings. Do I have to change each time I want a different set of symbols?

b) I also have a connection to AMP/TTnet data. Do I have to change that DTS also to receive the SC symbols for SP500, etc? (because it does not work when connected to AMP/TTnet) Presumably that would mean I can not trade if I want to look at the symbol SP500.

You need to choose the particular Data/Trading service that provides data for the symbols you want to use. In the case of when using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed, we are able to make available those symbols so they can be used when you have selected your main Trading service.

We have added all of the cash index symbols supported by the SC Exchange Data Feed, to each of the futures Trading services. This has been done as of this time.

When you specify the SP500 symbol in your postings, this is misleading to us and we are not really sure what you are referring to. This particular symbol is a CFD symbol which is used with the FXCM Forex data service.

If you want the ES futures, that is available when using AMP/TTnet and you should be using the ES futures symbols.

You will also now find when using AMP/TTnet, $INX which is the S&P 500 cash index. To get this symbol just restart Sierra Chart.

If you have further questions, please only ask one question at a time.

Ok, thx for this. However, I have tested $inx on my AMP/TTnet connection, but get no data. I had a previous chart in a CB with this symbol & it did not update (see log from this test). Later I added an intra-day $inx symbol after restarting, and it failed to give data as well. Is there something else I can try?

Ok, I just downloaded 1108 and I was able to open a new historical $inx chart, but it would not update data in an existing chart from my old Barchart service (either intra-day or historical - which is no big deal).

And for Market Stats, they are working as well, for both historical and intra-day. I have found that using the Find Symbol drop-down is the best way to access and open new charts.

Lastly, I want to thank you for adding all this new data! It makes a great product and service even more wonderful. I am over 10 years using Sierra Charts and have usually found that when I had problems, it was "user error". Kudos to your whole staff!

To get data for $INX you need to use one of the futures Trading services or the SC Exchange Data service. We can also make it available with the Forex data services. Just let us know which one you use, if you use one of those.

Thank you for the comment. We know we are moving in the right direction. We are going to be adding in more exchanges. Including European markets.

Well, things seemed to work for awhile, now of 3 data feeds on three different PC's one works, one not, and one mostly. Here is the landscape:

A) AMP/TTnet futures account #92 will not connect. It is being blocked by Sierra Charts.
B) AMP/TTnet futures account #94 gets futures & mkt. stats, but no indexes.
C) SC Exchange feed seems to work normally.

Attached are logs for A & B. Any suggestions?

Your Sierra Chart account has only 1 Sierra Chart Real-Time and Historical Exchange Data Feed connection paid for. Based upon what you do, you need to pay for additional 1 or 2.

This is the relevant documentation for some of the issues encountered:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails1.html#h1.7
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php#Connections

We also can see you are not using your Sierra Chart account all your copies of Sierra Chart. Apparently you are using a broker provided account. That account has no access to the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed and this is why you do not get cash indexes. We do not provide support for Sierra Chart accounts provided by brokers.

For this you need to activate the "CBOE Indices " exchange.

You can do this from this page here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php?page=MarketDataFeedFeatures

You need to click on the Add/Remove Exchanges button.

Restart Sierra Chart after activating the exchange.

Alright, I am working through this info and think it is finally sinking in. However, with respect to my trading accounts w/AMPttnet, Sierra chart is refusing to connect both at the same time, seemingly because I am using just one SC account log in to do so (thus running afoul of CME data restrictions). Therefore, it looks like I will have to sign up for a second Sierra account in the name of the newest AMP account. That is, unless you grant me an extension on the existing Sierra account (would that work?).

Sierra chart is refusing to connect both at the same time,
This is not clear enough for us. Is there a problem receiving data from the Sierra Chart Exchange Data feed, or actually connecting to your trading account altogether?

Yes. You will need to do this if you want to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data feed with two instances of Sierra Chart at the same time.

We are only aware of the particular Sierra Chart account that you are posting this message from and it has enough usage time on it currently.
