Is it possible to draw a horizontal line on an alert condition, for e.g. low of day plus 100 ticks? Thank you. |

The way to control the display of the line is to use the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition. The Study Collection at the following link gives an example of how this can be done: https://www.sierrachart.com/AdditionalFiles/Text%20at%20High%20Alert%20Condition.StdyCollct To use this study collection refer to the information here: How to Use an Advanced Custom Study or a Study Collection: How to Use a Study Collection You will need to work out the study(s) you need to get the horizontal line where you want it, but start with the Horizontal Line study: Horizontal Lines For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Hi John, Thank you. That study collection didnt really work. The alert condition on it is C>1.1367 and gives "Text" above the bar, thats not what I was looking for actually. I tried another way, using the High or Low of Time range study and used the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition refererncing to the High or Low study. I am able to get the alert, but getting a horizontal line off of it doesnt seem possible. |

The study collection was just give you the idea of how to do what you wanted. Which is to use the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition to establish when to draw the line and when not to. But now that we think about it, it would not do what you wanted for the Horizontal Line, since that is a continuous item (i.e. you are wanting it to show across multiple bars at the same time). We will have to think of a way to do this. But, one option that may work, if the line is at a constant position, is to use the Drawing Tools and set an alert on the drawing. You can then change the color of the drawing by using different configurations. You can then set the drawing to be the same as the background to not be visible, then change the color to something you can see when the alert fires. Refer to the information here: Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Drawing Alerts For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

John, I think there are many users that would like to have a "Color Horizontal Line Alert", just as there is "Color Bar/Background Alert" When alert conditions are met draw a horizontal line with the choice of anchoring the line to either the O,H,L,C of the alert bar and continuing the line until further intersection or end of period. Any chances of something like this happening? |

Thanks User48838 but not really what I'm looking for. My needs I think are the needs of many. For example, If a range, volume or tick bar has less than half the time duration of the previous bar I want to mark the high or low of the alert bar with a horizontal line to trade off of - trigger a trade or become a stop. If a time based bar has double the volume or range of the previous bar I want to mark the high or low of that bar with a horizontal line, again the high or low of the alert bar becomes either an entrance or a stop for a trade. Maybe I want to trade off the high or low of an inside bar or an NR7 bar, having a horizontal line with a SG associated with it generated from an alert bar allows for it and numerous other styles of trading. I know SierraCharts is always working in many directions to better their products. Having an alert bar that generates a horizontal line on either the O,H,L,C of a bar with its own respective SG is a force multiplier in terms of program functionality for traders wishing to automate there trades. |

This cannot be done with a spreadsheet and will be also a bit complicated in ACSIL. If you do not require a native function from sierrachart, I will create it.We are currently dealing with automation in a closed circle of people. So I'm interested... my email for send details ...if you want: zyp.sierra@gmail.com or as a suggestion to forum: https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=StudyStore&SCDLLName=zyp_download_free |
