Can I utilize a SC data package exclusively without a data subscription to IB?

I want to use only Sierra Charts for trading and have an IB account. It is clear that this is supported. However, I would like to know if I can use Sierra Charts data only (and trade via SC) without still having to retain my data feed from IB. Is this possible? I don't want to end up paying for 2 data feeds. I can't seem to find this specifically in the forum. Additionally, I am almost positive it is not a 2 way portal where I could use SC data and trade only via the TWS from IB, correct? I have just heard that SC data is better and would be more than willing to switch as long as I am not doubling up on data packages. Thanks! I apologize if this has already been answered. |

Yes this is supported. But the question is did you need futures data from the CME Group of exchanges?

Thanks good to know. I would also need CME data. As I understand it, I would subscribe via Denali and in doing so, I could also just use this data instead of my IB data I presume? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-01-16 05:04:20

Yes but you still need to connect to your Interactive Brokers account once a month: Real-Time Exchange Data Feeds Available From Sierra Chart: Connecting Only Once a Month to Trading Account to Support CME Group Exchange Fees More information: Real-Time Exchange Data Feeds Available From Sierra Chart: Understanding and Accessing Data From the CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX Exchanges Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Typically if there is a difference in time to load data it is because it is a new symbol and therefore there is a large amount of data downloaded prior to displaying in the chart. If this is just about opening a chart for which data already exists, then there should not be any difference in the time to open the chart. Let us know what you find when you look at a chart for a symbol for which you already have data. ----------------- Make sure that your Intraday Storage Time Unit is set to 1 tick for the data you are using for the Numbers Bars chart(s). Refer to the information here: Data/Trade Service Settings: Intraday Data Storage Time Unit (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings) You can also make sure of this by changing the following Input on the Numbers Bars study: Numbers Bars: Require 1 Tick Intraday Data Storage Time For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

It appears that I have all the settings correct with regards to the tick data being set to 1 in both the number bars study as well as the Data trade service settings. It appears that I am lacking volume. I noted some heavy orders prior to changing the data and those large fills are no longer on the number bars and I have a large volume indicator that indicated heavy volume and now almost no volume is recorded at all with that indicator. I tried to disconnect from the Denali feed to reconnect to my IB feed but I don't seem to be able to do so. I wanted to compare what the IB data looked like for comparison. I unchecked the box "Allow support for SC data feed", but in the top left I see that the data feed is from DF:2xxx ... I would have assumed if I didn't allow SC data it would default to my IB data. I also ensured that I clicked Translate symbols to current service and that didn't make a difference either. I have recently upgraded to the most recent version of SC. Right now I am using my free month of Denali. I currently am on plan 5, do I need to upgrade to plan 11 by chance?

First, with regards to getting the IB data, you are correct - all you need to do is to set the option for Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds to No, then disconnect and reconnect to the data feed, and as long as you are setup to receive data from Interactive Brokers you should be getting their data. As to the issue with the Numbers Bars, we would need to see an image of what you are seeing to understand better. Hmm. I am unable to upload an screenshot for the number bars as I can't get them back they way they were. I will work on it. One other note, perhaps related, perhaps not, when I load a intraday charts (daily candles for example) for the last 30 days, the time frame is selected correctly (Nov 24 - today) but it displays the chart well into the future. (into May in this case). I have never had that issue either. I will have to keep searching.

Refer to:Working With Charts: Time Scale When Sierra Chart is set to use the Denali Exchange Data Feed, you need to re-download the data in the chart to make sure it is all coming from that data feed.: Re-download all the data in the chart by going to the chart and selecting "Edit >> Delete All Data and Download". You just need to do this once per symbol and not for each chart. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I just wanted to give a little feedback just in case you run into this problem with some other noob client in the future. I decreased the threshold on my footprint/number charts and that seems to have helped. I am seeing the imbalances where I would expect them to be. Perhaps the Denali data is so much more extensive that the imbalances were not as prominent? Just a guess, but I think it is all resolved now. Thanks.
