Hello SC team,
I wanted to calculate huge amount of rows using latest nonCLR SC. I noticed that memory went up to 3.9GB and then I got a message box "Out of memory" and SC terminated. I didn't have a chance to get a log file. I saw it had messages like "SC_MainWindow expection..." and within next SC start all formulas in SpreadSheet disappeared! This is second time when I rewrote my formulas for new CLR and can't normally work with this SC version. Here are 2 problems: 1. which I mentioned already - to prevent calculation on load - in my case I did a mistake (though 40k of rows to calculate is not too much) and sat too many rows to calculate, next time within a load I must wait and some time later hit the same "out of memory" error and SC terminates - so in this case, how can I reduce value for number of rows to calculate if I cant enter the platform? And 2nd issue - do what ever you want, but to lose formulas in Spreadsheet is no go, doesn't matter what kind of error occurred. I noticed, when I press "save all" spreadsheet's file size turns to 0 and after data is saved it has a normal size. Maybe make sense to do an intermediate backup copy of Spreadsheet before any operation with it?....

How many rows? We will have to test this.

Are there specific steps you can give us to reproduce a problem where you lose formulas? Or is the problem intermittent?

User response:
I don't have it.
The platform terminated abnormally. Within next load, the log message window was empty. AFAIK, you don't have log files, so I don't know how to get it.
Even if I reproduce the problem, how can get the log file if SC terminates unexpectedly?

My pardon, seems I replied in a wrong topic.. thanks for correcting...
In my case it was 40k rows (but with 18 sophisticated formulas in one spreadsheet with 16 studies on one chart, some studies copied from other chart)
I don't know if my chart setup is special, but I think if you put some studies on chart write few formulas and set huge amount of rows to calculate, you will get 'out of memory' exception and then SC will terminate. With new start Spreadsheet will be empty.

We have to think about this.

We will make sure that formulas do not get lost as long as you have saved them. We are not quite sure of the scenario that leads to this though that you are encountering.

We will make the saving of Spreadsheet files fault-tolerant so if something goes wrong, the original file will still be intact.

40,000 rows should not be too many.

in case you will not be able to reproduce the problem - inform me, I will prepare a test case for you (when I have more time)

Looking forward to get it soon and test. Thank you.

We are actively working on the new Spreadsheet functionality again after a pause in development. We are working on various improvements with them, and making them very fast and reliable. We are doing our best to get this done as soon as possible but for the time being the new non-CLR spreadsheets, still should be considered a beta.

We are seeing performance issues that we still have to work out.
