Sierra has being freezing on me past 2 days since I upgraded to the latest version 1088. I was adjusting indicators at the time when it froze, nothing out of the ordinary. I got the same error message twice today and once yesterday. I have pasted a small portion of the error messages below for your viewing. Maybe you let me know what the issue is and if it can be fixed.

Thx

Do you know if you are using any custom studies? More about this can be found in help topic 17:

I followed your instructions above and removed ALL DLL's studies into the back up folder and started sierra charts again WITHOUT any DLL's. I did the exact same procedure as I was doing prior to moving the dll's and sierra crashed again without any dll's present in the data folder. I was doing the following. Setting up color and line formats on the Volume Value Area Lines and TPO Value Area Lines indicators. I set the Volume Value Area Lines indicator to show Vol POC, Vol VAL, Vol VAH, All set to draw style Dash, Line style Solid 5, Name & Value, Right & Values Scales (All Centered) and the gave each level a Short Name. I then did the same with the TPO Value Area Lines indicator with the exception I set the Draw Style to 'Right Hash' width 4, Name & Value, Right Edge & Values Scale (All Centered) and then gave each a Short Name. This procedure was done WITHOUT ANY DLL's studies in the data folder. It looks to me that setting the Draw Sytle to 'Right Hash' on the TPO Value Area Lines indicator maybe causing the crash. I adjusted both indicators as per above very quickly and was able to crash sierra on multiple occasions today after removing ALL DLL's. Maybe you can replicate on your end.

Thx

We tested exactly what you did and could not duplicate the problem.

Disconnect from the data feed with File >> Disconnect and open just one chart. Do you still notice the problem when doing what you described?

I did what you requested above plus I re-installed the latest version and no crashes. Why is sierra crashing on me?? Could the chartbook be corrupted?? Would opening a new chartbook and adding new clean charts and applying my various StdyCollct files to each new fresh chart fix this sudden crashing of sierra? Any help/advice would be most welcome. Sierra crashing on me suddenly is becoming a daily occurance.

Thx

Please find attached the workspace.cht file and the most recent version of a dll that was auto upgraded to version 1.1 when I upgraded sierra to the latest version 1090. Let me know if you need anything else.

We tested your Chartbook and have not seen a problem yet.

Although we only tested it for a few minutes.

Would opening a new chartbook and adding new clean charts and applying my various StdyCollct files to each new fresh chart fix this sudden crashing of sierra?
No. We do not think this would help. In any case, we want to figure out what the problem is.

Can you tell us, what usually you are doing, just briefly, before the abnormal shutdown occurs. We know that you mentioned changing study settings, anything else?

No, just changing study settings both style of lines and coloring. I have had quite a few crashes when I set line style to 'Right Hash' I was changing the colors and line style on a couple of EMA's yesterday and sierra crashed. I did the exact same thing today WITHOUT any crashes. Sometimes I do be adjusting 2 seperate charts at the same time, both style of lines and colors. Sierra has be rock solid for me since I started. I only get the abnormal shutdown (Crashes) when I start to adjust the current settings on a chart or charts.

Thx

Just to give you an update on this, we still could not duplicate the problem with additional testing. So we are not quite sure why it is happening. We are still interested in it but as of yet have not determined the cause.
