I can load my .CHT and display charts, but they do not update. The problem appears to be a connection limit error. Here's an excerpt from the log: DTC Client socket (2) | Creating socket. | 2020-04-06 20:09:11.317

But even after shutting down the other device, I still can not connect. There has definitely been only ONE device trying to connect for the last hour but still locked out. Looks to me like when you detect a connection limit exceeded condition it is not getting cleared after the 2nd connection is shut down. I'm dead in the water - please advise what to do to get it working again. I have already tried restarting SC, updating to latest version, and rebooting computer. Nothing works. Definitely only one device connected. THANKS!!! |

Update: I am no longer in urgent need of support. My charts are working again, but I do believe for other users' sake that there is an issue here. It started working again after a cold shutdown of both devices, wait 10 mins, then restart the one device desired to connect. It's not clear whether the shutdown actually solved anything or if it was just a matter of time. One way or another, when you correctly detect a double connection (sorry, mistakes happen), it appears the server is very slow to update when the 2nd device is disconnected. Thanks and have a great day. I'll be very careful not to connect two devices again. |

it appears the server is very slow to update when the 2nd device is disconnected. No that is not true.If you have a problem again just do the following: First make sure all of your installations of Sierra Chart are up to date to be able to support multiple connections from the same system: Software Download: Fast Update You only need to do this once. Second if you only have installations of Sierra Chart connecting from the same system, and some installations are getting this message: SC Data - All Services | Logon error received from server: Connection limit exceeded. | MaxConnectionsDifferentDevices = 1, NumCurrentConnectionsDifferentDevices = 2 | 2020-04-06 20:09:12.590
then just simply reconnect all installations: File Menu: Procedure to Reconnect to the Data and Trade Servers The problem will then be immediately resolved. No waiting necessary. NEW PROBLEM: EXCHANGE TRADED SPREADS STOPPED UPDATING The original problem is solved. I'm posting this NEW ISSUE to this thread just in case they are related, since they both occurred at the same time. Exchange-traded spread charts stopped updating yesterday (Denali/TT ORS feed). Just to rule out a chart setting issue, I used Find Symbol to create a new historical chart for CLK20-CLM20.CL.FUT_SPREAD.NYMEX. The new chart shows the same last trade price of -$3.91 that my other charts show. That's incorrect; per CME Direct the actual last trade as of right now is -$4.34. Same issue on all my many other exchange-traded spread charts. All use CL spread symbols. Please advise... Thanks! |
