it appears the server is very slow to update when the 2nd device is disconnected.
No that is not true.

If you have a problem again just do the following:

First make sure all of your installations of Sierra Chart are up to date to be able to support multiple connections from the same system:
Software Download: Fast Update

You only need to do this once.

Second if you only have installations of Sierra Chart connecting from the same system, and some installations are getting this message:
SC Data - All Services | Logon error received from server: Connection limit exceeded. | MaxConnectionsDifferentDevices = 1, NumCurrentConnectionsDifferentDevices = 2 | 2020-04-06 20:09:12.590

then just simply reconnect all installations:
File Menu: Procedure to Reconnect to the Data and Trade Servers

The problem will then be immediately resolved. No waiting necessary.
