The definitive solution to this is when our new spreadsheet functionality becomes officially released.

Otherwise, there is not necessarily much we can do about this. The log you show, shows the error is is occurring in one of the garbage Microsoft CLR/.NET file components on your system.

The only thing we can think of saying is restart the computer. Make sure .NET 4 is up-to-date on your system.

What happens when you start with a new Spreadsheet by specifying a new Spreadsheet Name for the Spreadsheet Study?

Other than this, we cannot offer any further help. We are not willing to commit any further development or effort on the old spreadsheet component.

We are working hard to get the new spreadsheet functionality officially released and working well by the end of the year. So we are not very far off. This has been a major project.

Generally though, the current spreadsheet functionality it works fine and is stable.
