Numbers Bars - Getting background coloring method onto an imbalance numbers bars chart

Hi,

In the Numbers Bars study, if I try to apply a Background Coloring Method Based on AskVol/BidVol Percentage to Numbers Bars which have text coloring Based on Diagonal Dominant Side AskVol BidVol Percentage, some of the bid x ask text goes missing. It is not hidden behind the new background color but is completely missing.

How can I add the background color (AskVol/BidVol Percentage) to imbalance Numbers Bars and retain all the bid x ask text and all imbalance markings (red/green) colors that are presented from the text coloring method (Diagonal Dominant Side AskVol BidVol Percentage)?

So, if you look at the attached file, I would like column 2 background colors on column 1 text, without losing any text from column 1. Currently I am losing some bidxask text when applying the background color.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It looks like the coloring you have for the Text coloring is the same as for the Background coloring. When this is the case, if the colors happen to match up, then you will not see the text, as it is the same color as the background. It is not that it is missing, it is just the same, so you cannot read it.

You need to enable the option for Use Separate Colors for Text Coloring Method and then change the colors of the text to be different from the backgrounds. This is specifically covered here, which gives the links to the particular inputs you will need:

Hi,

Thank you for the response - I can now see the text and background clearly with the update you mentioned. However, it seems that Background Coloring and Text Coloring is running off the same Percent Compare Threshold. I would like to be able to have the text threshold at a different level to the background threshold, as the two colorings provide different information and need different, separate threshold levels. I also found a previous discussion on the forum about it here: Numbers Bars text coloring on one value/ background coloring on another

I do hope you will reconsider and implement an additional separate Percent Compare Threshold for Text Coloring, as it would add real value to users and allow all aspects of the Numbers Bars imbalances to be seen in one chart.

Thanks again,

We do think it is going to really complicate the study having different thresholds for text coloring. There are already 6 threshold sets of settings.

Each column has its own volume and percentage thresholds settings. So you just need to use a separate column for a different threshold. The study can display up to three columns of data per chart bar.

If you need more help with this, let us know. We have reactivated your account so you can do more testing.
