I have a laptop with two m.2 ssds and one regular SSD

Will SierraChart perform better even slightly if I put Sierrachart folder on d: instead of c: where windows10 operates? or will it not matter at all?

My CPU is the latest with Intel Core i9-8950HK and 32gb SSDs are 1TB epci m.2 for C:, 2TB sata m.2 for d: and 2TB SSD for E:

Yes, you will get better performance by using the D: drive. (provided that both C:\ and D:\ are on similar drives)

An NVME m2 drive is going to be much faster than a SATA SSD:

Note that not all m2 drives are going to be nvme.

Max, I am confused; High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

30.29 it says we need to have an individual drive for SC sw.

But your message;
Yes, you will get better performance by using the D: drive. (provided that both C:\ and D:\ are on similar drives)

Which is correct?

Hi, is there any news in this regards? What is correct, second nvme or another partition on the same nvme? Thx!

Here's a different view. I've been doing this for about 10 years.

Best performance by far: put SC's data directory on a ram disk and just back it up to an ssd or hdd every hour. This will also dramatically reduce "disk wear" as you replace huge numbers of small writes to the disk with a very few big ones. Similarly, put the cache for your browser on that ram disk.

All this relies on is having enough memory to put aside a ramdisk for Sierra & Browser caches. So, how big is your SC data directory and do you have enough ram? If memory is tricky and you have a lot of data files that you don't update (maybe for testing/practice) then put them on the SSD and just symbolically link them to the Sierra Chart data directory. Note that you load your directories to the ramdisk on startup and copy them on shutdown.

If you can't do a ramdisk: put Sierra's data directory on the least used ssd (assuming no big speed differences). If the most used ssd is also a lot faster than the other one this might not be best but why not start with the least used and see how it goes.

Most of Sierra's activity is writing to those files in the Data directory so its probably the only one that you need to have in an optimal location but you can also just put the whole SC directory structure on the ramdisk if you're more comfortable with that.

Hi Kiwi, thank you for answering me!

I bought a WD SN 850 1 TB to test. I like it very much, I will keep it as a system nvme. I have set 16 GB L 1 cache in PrimoCache (I have 64GB 3800 MHz CL 16). Do you have experience with PrimoCache, should I also set up an L2 cache? Should I also buy the same NVME for SC or set up a second partition with PrimoCache (again with 16GB)?

How big is your sierrachart/Data directory?

And do you currently perceive a performance issue?

What's the best RAMdisk software out there, I remember back in the day AMD made a free one.
