Can you please help with correct formula? I just want an alert for when a bar closes above the high of the previous bar (or below the low of the previous bar). Thanks |

You can use "Color bar based on alert condition" study twice. With the first one - under "Alerts" write =C>H[-1], make sure in tab "Settings and Inputs" you put "Use Input Data" for "Output When Condition True". Use a second "Color bar based on alert condition" study but this time as an alert you write =C<L[-1]. Hope that helps.

Looks like I've fallen at the 2nd hurdle as well... I actually want to apply the alert to a Heiken-Ashi study. This could either overlay the main chart with the graph draw type set to blank (so I just see the Heiken-Ashi), or alternatively this could be in a separate chart region. So I want to set the Alert to show when a Heiken-Ashi bar closes above the last high (and below the last low), rather the bars of the main chart/symbol itself. Is this possible? Thanks |

http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1383750881777.png Assuming the Heikin-Ashi study is ID1 try the following: for blue arrow: =ID1.SG4>ID1.SG2[-1] for red arrow: =ID1.SG4<ID1.SG3[-1] Just pay attention to the first blue/red arrow and ignore the rest same color arrows. Hope that helps. |

Hi I am trying to apply these formulas to the cumulative delta study. but it is not working correctly, I have changed the setting to apply to the cumulative delta study and to chart region 2. but the bars are coloured incorrectly. how ever it works correctly on price, the problem seems to be its the same colour coding as the main chart candles and not colour coding the cumulative delta study chart according to it own bars. any help appreciated Thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-02-19 14:35:51

From what you are stating, this should work correctly. The main things are the Based On, which needs to be set to the Cumulative Delta study, and the Region which needs to be the same region as the Cumulative Delta study. Otherwise, make sure that the Draw Style for the Color Bar subgraph is Color Bar. We do not see any issue at all with your chart and the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition studies. thank you again, I want the alerts to colour the cumulative delta bars based on the delta bars being higher or lower and not coloured the same as the price chart. if you look at your screenshot the second last bar on delta closed higher but is not coloured blue, and it should be. Many Thanks |

Then you need to change your formulas. When you use the shortcuts of C (for Close), H (for High), etc. those are specifically for the Main Price Graph and not the study that the alert is associated with. So you have the exact same formulas in both cases, which is why they are being colored at the exact same times. You need to change the C to ID7.SG4, which is the Close of the Cumulative Delta Bars (at least, in the Chartbook we have). You may need to update the actual ID of the study depending on your specific chart.
