Many people have been looking for the ability to use a Dark Theme in Sierra Charts and Win 10 users in particular have been out of luck. Today I found an application that will allow different themes to be applied to Windows that will also change the application themes in Windows 10. Although I'd rather have this ability be native to SC and hopefully the SC Dev Team will continue considering it, this gives us an option in the meantime. I've posted an image below (untuned, I just applied it to my current settings without adjustments so far) and while it needs tweaking of the alignment since border widths changed and font and my current color pallet it's a start in the right direction.

The program I used is called WindowBlinds and I'm on their 30 day free trial. After the trial it doesn't cost much but it's the only program of it's kind that I've found that will work in the current version of Windows 10. You can download a variety of premade themes to suit your tastes/needs.

Wow! I'm surprised that WindowBlinds has the ability to change not just the titlebar but the actual background color of Sierra Chart. I'm an avid dark theme user, my web browser Waterfox, file explorer Directory Opus, video player PotPlayer, Visual Studio and of course my windows taskbar are all dark themed. Thank you so much Scott for posting your findings.

For anyone wondering, Stardock charges $9.99 for WindowBlinds. I also recommend another program from Stardock called Fences. I've used it for years and it helps to organize desktop shortcuts and files. Useful for people who download from web browsers to the desktop instead of the User/Download folder.

I don't blame Sierra Chart for not supporting a dark theme because that would be another thing that would require support for and people would be asking for more customization. Better to focus on core functionality than cosmetics. It's also a major task to make a C++ program like Sierra Chart look like modern Flat/Metro themes (C# WPF). For niche users like ourselves who want a dark theme, WindowBlinds looks like it fills the need.

This is what I use and it's free.

The problem about the High Contrast Theme is that it changes everything which is cool at first. But it also changes webpages to high contrast and even colored cells in excel workbooks. Though I like dark themes, this is a bit too much. I appreciate the suggestion.

Xfanman, can you open your WindowBlinds settings and tell me what theme you're using? I haven't been able to get mine to work out of the box yet. Looks like I have to change the colors under the Modify Style button? Or did you find a flat black theme?

oh boy Xfanman, that's one badass layout. like your control bars setting.

Any idea if P/L can be shown on control bar? I am trying to get rid of Trade window.

The theme I used on the image I posted above is called Flattened with the Win-7-8-10-Light Substyle applied. There are other dark themes available on their customization website also, Dark Mode, Distinct, Flat Dark and others.

I haven't had much time to play with these yet but it's a nice start I think. I don't like that my Task Bar has changed some style elements and I'll look into modifying these themes to change just the colors and not the some of the other elements I don't care for. If anyone comes up with something clean first, please share it here. Since the window borders change with the different themes, it will mess with your SC layout and you'll most likely have to reposition charts and things on your platform layout.

Scott

EDIT: I forgot to mention, in case you didn't notice in their website, you can download the custom themes from other users I mention above (and more) on their WinCustomize website. -->

You can accomplish this a couple of ways that I know of. What I did was create Control Buttons to simply Open and Close my Trade Window if I don't want it displayed or I want more chart space. This works really well (the Open TW and Close TW Buttons on the right side of my platform image I posted above) and I can pop it open with a button click if I want to see what my P&L currently is.

You could also enable P&L to display on your chart in the upper region where the rest of your Study information displays.

Finally you could add one of the Trading:*** studies to your chart and reference whatever you're looking for (Profit/Loss, Profit/Loss Text, Closed Profit/Loss etc)in the study or have it displayed wherever you'd like it to show up on your chart with the Text Display study.

I don't yet, but I will by the end of the day. I've narrowed it down to a couple of possible settings under their Modify Style/Change Style Colors selections.

Nice solution. Do you have any thoughts on coloring the trade window and the message log, for example?
For me, the message log remains white in the center.
The trade window has a light grey.

Ideally there would be a way to make those match the dark theme.

Otherwise, very nice.
