Ive been working through the Chart Scaling functions in the Userguide Chart Scale and Scale Adjusting But I cannot find a solution to my problem below I simply want to stop the Y axis jumping around with the price action as I scroll the charts Left and Right (1) I want to be able to set the Y-axis spacing (Ctrl-Left click). Then That scale does not change as I would scroll left and right (2) Also I want to keep the Price-level stable when I scroll Left and Right. For example when looking at the Right hand edge of the chart one may wish to examine the Price Action that occurred historically, at an approaching level. Thus as one would scroll back in time to find the most recent price action at the approaching level the chart would not jump around dependant on the price level I've tried various settings from going through the User manual but no joy |

1. If you are referring to the padding above and below the chart bars either a positive or negative padding when using Interactive Scale Range, then that is implemented as a percentage. You will see some variation in the amount of space as you scroll the chart. 2. If you want to fix the chart at a particular price range, you need to set the Scale Range to User Defined and enter the top and bottom values for the scale. In the next release, when you right-click over the Values Scale and select Scale Range: User Defined, the top and bottom of the range will be automatically be set to the existing top and bottom of the displayed range. Hopefully this will help in your case. We would think it would. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Dear Sierra Engineering, There seems to be a new issue that has popped up with changes that were made in one of your last revisions. My search to see if anyone else was having the same issue as me brought me to this page. Your last posting here suggests that when you now right-click over the values scale and select “Scale Range: User defined”, it will automatically show the top and bottom of the range. However, that defeats the toggle functionality that we had previously. For instance, in doing this with volume, I usually select “Scale Range: Automatic" for the day session, and then I select “Scale Range: User Defined” for the evening session, which would set the scale to my previously defined values. However, the “user defined” information that I had set previously is no longer remembered, meaning that the quick toggle capability between them no longer works. I now have to select “Scale Settings” and redefine the user defined settings every time I need to look at evening session data. That would not be an issue if I just did this once per day, but I toggle between these two frequently while I am studying the activity of both day and evening sessions to see what it means for current trading possibilities. I do hope this toggle functionality can be returned. Or, is there a way to make it remember that I am simply not aware of? Thank you so much for your consideration! Dan |

We will work on a solution to this today. Probably a new command to set the top and bottom of the user-defined range to the visible prices.

Is there a way to set the auto scale padding % without programming it (ACSIL .. sc.AutoScalePaddingPercentage) in the scale settings? That would be a nice feature.

No, there is only interactive control of that using your Pointer on the Values Scale. But we will make a note to add this. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
