Help with Scale In using Attached Orders

Hi,

I have the following setup in my attached orders;

QTY 2
Target 1 - 25 Ticks (QTY 1) - OCO Group 1
Target 2 - 30 ticks (QTY 1) - OCO Group 2
STOP ALL - 15 ticks - ALL OCO Groups

"Support Scale in is turned on"

When I initially place an order everything works as expected. When I try to add 2 more contracts once the position is open it actually adds 3 contracts so I have a total of 5 contacts open.

Ideally I want to set it up so I am only adding 1 contract after the position is open but I can't see how I do this.

Could you let me know how I have to have it set to add one contract after initially placing the order and it also adds to the STOP ALL.

Thanks

How do you come to this conclusion? What is the quantity of the new order? It must have been 3.

You need to make sure the Order Quantity is set to 1 for that new order:

I came to the conclusion as I did not change the quantity in the DOM but when I added I suddenly had 5 contacts open. This has happened several times both sim and live. Can send you a log from a trade I took today if that helps?

Thanks

BTW when I try to change the QTY on the DOM to "1" after I initially have opened a trade with 2 contacts then it says QTY and Targets don't match so how do I just add 1 contact after opening the trade with 2 contracts? Thanks.

You do need to change the quantity first to 1 before submitting the order and then you can ignore the message about the quantities not matching. But we want to do some testing.

Ok great thanks. Also if it helps while testing I initially open the trade with a market order to SELL and then when I SCALE (add more contracts) it was a SELL STOP. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but it was when the SELL STOP order was triggered is when it added 3 contracts. I can see in my trade activity log where it added 2 and then 1 on seperate rows at the same price which meant I had 5 contracts open instead of 4.

In this case, the Sell Stop order must of had a quantity of 3.

We have confirmed that scaling in does work properly even though you still have the NoMatch error at the top of the Trade Window. That can be ignored. There is not a need that the new order quantity match the quantity of the Attached Orders since there is a scale in operation that will be performed.

Ok that's not matching up with what I see from my side. Today I entered with 2 contracts then adjusted the ORDER QTY to 1 and tried to add 1 contract but got an error. Here is the error from the Trade Service Log;

Trade Order Error: The order quantity for the Parent is 1 and this is less than the total order quantity of 2 for the Attached Orders. Adjust the order quantities so the parent is greater or equal to the Attached Orders. | 2017-05-09 09:20:02 *

And I am positive that for the other issue where when I add 2 it actually adds three that I am not adjusting the QTY to 3 it is doing it by itself. Sorry to be difficult but that is how I see things from my side so there must be another explanation.

This would mean that Support Scale In is not enabled. You may have enabled it on the wrong Trade Window. Refer to this section here about this:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TradeWindow.html#SettingsNotApplying

If you need help with this, we can use a remote assistance session.

We could examine the Trade Activity Log if you want. But at this point if you continue to have a problem it is best we look at this with remote assistance. We know that the quantity cannot change on its own. If Sierra Chart had a fault like that, that would be incredibly serious and would get immediate attention from us. No such problem has ever existed.

Yes I will be around tomorrow and my phone and skype information are up to date.

I was thinking one other thing to note about it adding 3 contracts instead of two. I typically enter the two initial contacts on the CHART DOM then to add the other 2 contracts (which becomes 3) by right clicking on the chart and selecting BUY STOP or SELL STOP at the price.

Just something to note as we work through this problem solving exercise. Thanks.

I did some more testing on SIM this morning. If I ONLY use the Chart DOM then the orders scale correctly for Quantity. If I enter on the DOM and then add contracts to an existing position using a BUY STOP/SELL STOP by right clicking on the chart that is where the problem lies. Please contact me today so I can show this to you. Thanks.

User called and issue resolved. Just a configuration issue involving Support Scale In not being enabled on the particular chart.

I am having a similar issue, I have checked everything and I do not know why I am still getting the message that says the order quantity is less than the attached orders, it will not let me put an order in, but I have support scale in and scale out for the trading DOM I am using.
