I am interested in getting Market Profile charts. Looking at your website do I only need the following package:

Sierra Chart with Advanced Features (Service Package 5) for $33 USD per month? Does this include historical e-mini futures data? or this a separate fee?

My brokers are Interactive Brokers and TD Ameritrade, if I decide in the future to turn-on real-time futures (e-mini) data, what is the best way to get real-time futures (e-mini) data? Would this require an additional fee?

Yes that is the service package you will need and it does include historical futures data.

If you are using Interactive Brokers you can get the real-time futures data from them. Sierra Chart does support Interactive Brokers. Refer to:

So would there be any additional fees for using Interactive Brokers for real-time data?

Thanks. regarding Market Profiles, does Sierra Chart support Time Price Opportunities (TPOs) as well as Volume-based profiles? If so, can you point me to the documentation on how to set the profiles for both? I will be downloading the trial version today

Thanks. I managed to installed SC and setup the connection with Interactive Brokers. I was given a CHT file that I would like to use for market profile. How do import the CHT file in SC?

I copied the attached cht file into C:\SierraChart\Data folder but when I opened it, I get a blank screen. How do I troubleshoot this cht file?

I was able to open and use your MP file, all I had to do was change the symbol to ESM17 as that's what my datafeed uses for the current S&P contract. I don't know what symbol your data providers uses for the current /ES contract.

Screenshot attached (with a side by side of your .CHT file the MP chartbook that I use), you may need to check your chart settings to make sure they're correct.

Thanks for the response. Sorry, I am not familiar with SC at all. Where I can change the symbol to ES (Interactive Brokers symbol: ES-201706-GLOBEX)? When I right clicked on the Chartbook, there are no options available. However, if I create a new chartbook, I can right click and change the symbol. Maybe, I opened the chartbook incorrectly? Can you provide instructions on how to load/import an external cht file? I originally copied it into C:\SierraChart\Data folder but I am not sure if that is the correct approach. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for your screenshot. I managed to enter the correct ES symbol and it is working now. Can you show me what configuration you made to display different colors for regular and extended trading hours sessions?

Also, any advice on the best way to zoom in using command keys other than using the tools -> zoom in feature? Thank you so much for your help

I've attached the chartbook for the MP chart that I use, feel free to use it and modify it to your liking.

It has both Market Profile and Volume Profile on it and also shows the aggregate volume in the VP histograms.

Moving the chart is much different if you're coming from Windotrader, you have to use the scale bars on the X and Y axis to move the chart. Zooming is a little different as well, just something you have to play with and get used to, IMO.

You may want to consider watching some videos on the basic use of Sierra Charts as there is a decent learning curve to using this charting program and it's much different from other platforms that I've used.

Infinity futures has a great library of Youtube videos for basic all the way to advanced use of Sierra Charts. Once you get the hang of it, you'll find it's a fantastic piece of software and has great capabilities + functions.

I would like to get your perspective on market profile given that you have more experience in using it in your trading. I am trying to assess whether or market profile works. I have the following questions:

1. Do you use market profile in trading the e-minis primarily? do you use in equities trading?
2. How long have you been using market profile?
3. What works and what does not work with market profile
4. Would you recommend market profile for someone to learn it?
5. How did you learn market profile? Did you take a class?

Thanks

1. Do you use market profile in trading the e-minis primarily? do you use in equities trading?

>> I use it primarily for the /ES, I rarely trade equities.

2. How long have you been using market profile?

>> 2-3 years now, I also use Volume Profile, they each have their place in the toolbox.

3. What works and what does not work with market profile

>> Not sure what you mean with this one. It's a different way to organize the data for each auction session, as opposed to looking at a standard bar chart. It also shows value area, POC, VPOC and other info.

4. Would you recommend market profile for someone to learn it?

>> Yes.

5. How did you learn market profile? Did you take a class?

>> Yes, I took the Jim Dalton intensive last year and it was worth every penny and then some. Check the following link:

https://futures.io/vendors-product-reviews/39008-james-dalton-intensive-2016-a.html

>> Check out futures.io it's a great board with tons of info on Market Profile, Volume Profile, trading and is a great place to learn and gain knowledge.

>> Also, I would imagine that the Sierra Chart Engineering bro's would appreciate us not using the support board for general trading convo's
