Hi Sierra Chart, I am studying the option to make a transition from trading spot FX in MT4 to trade it via Sierra Chart. I see you offer spot FX via connecting a trading account in SC platform via FXCM. However, that is not an option I am comfortable with given recent developments. I have read that I can also trade spot FX using a trading account with Gain Capital. Stage 5 appears to be an introducing broker to Gain Capital... however, when I contacted them, they said to me they offer futures.... my question is.... can I simply open an account with Forex.com (part of Gain Capital) and connect my account to SC? If that's not possible, what's my best option to trade spot FX via SC? What brokerage firm can offer me this service? Note, I am not interested in futures. Thanks! |

Really for spot Forex trading, for customers outside the United States we recommend LMAX and Interactive Brokers: LMAX Trading Service Interactive Brokers Trading Service We would not recommend using Gain Capital. We think there are going to be some technical issues you would encounter. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. At the moment I am using FXCM data feed in SC to make my analysis, while executing with MT4. If I switch to LMAX or IB, will I be able to generate one of the critical studies as part if my trading, that is, the 'numbers bar' and VbP (Volume by Price) in each 5m candle? I suppose the quality of tick volume would be fairly the same, right? Could you confirm that?

Yes you can still do this. There will be no problem with LMAX data. And when using Interactive Brokers you can still use the FXCM symbols under the File >> Find Symbol >> Forex category and then use the Trade and Current Quote Symbol setting to trade the equivalent Interactive Brokers symbol. You will need to use the Gain Capital futures connection which also supports Forex trading.
