SC Data with IB

I have SC Data and use IB for trading, and I would like to be able to open SC without opening TWS (for instance in the evenings to review charts but not trade). They are both set up to "connect on program startup" however it seems SC Data is not starting, and all my charts revert to Historical from Intraday when I open SC unless TWS is open beforehand. My chart settings are set with the SC Data symbol (ESH17 for example) and the "Trade and current quote symbol" is set to that of IB (which I thought was the proper way to do it base on this http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartHistoricalData.php#Symbol_Differences). So my question is, is it necessary to open TWS at all times while running SC, even though the data is still coming from SC Data? If not, please advise how to remedy this. Thanks, |

This totally makes no sense to us at all. This should never happen and we do not know of any technical reason why this would happen. Unless the charts are being referenced by another Historical chart, which is explained here:Unable to Change the Bar Time Period for Charts My chart settings are set with the SC Data symbol (ESH17 for example) and the "Trade and current quote symbol" is set to that of IB (which I thought was the proper way to do it Do not do this. This is definitely the wrong way. The right way is described here:https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php#IntegrationWithTradingServices So my question is, is it necessary to open TWS at all times while running SC, even though the data is still coming from SC Data?
If you require real-time data, then yes it is necessary to connect to Trader Workstation. Otherwise, the historical data should download when the Chartbook is opened.

Thank you. It seems odd that I cannot use only the SC Data without having IB open, but its not an issue I will just open TWS at all times. What you call "definitely the wrong way" seemed pretty clear to me ("To solve these issues, you need to...select Chart >> Chart Settings on the menu and enter the corresponding symbol in the Trade and Current Quote Symbol box.") but thanks for pointing that out I will just leave it as the IB symbol. All charts in my chartbook (14 in total) were changing from intraday to historical each time I opened SC without having TWS open, but with TWS open it does not seem to happen any further. Thanks very much, that clears it up |

It seems odd that I cannot use only the SC Data without having IB open, You can by following the instructions here:https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php#ConnectingOnlyOnceAMonthToTradingAccount But you will not be able to use Sierra Chart for trading. All charts in my chartbook (14 in total) were changing from intraday to historical each time I opened SC without having TWS open, but with TWS open it does not seem to happen any further.
