Hello there Sierra Charts, I have heard positives reviews and good things about Sierra Charts and I would like to ask some questions as I am considering switching my main platform. I saw on your own forum and on futures.io, and also on your own web that you are working to add native support for Mac and Linux. [“We are working to add native support for Mac OS and Linux. This is an ongoing task.”] I think that is brilliant and we Mac and Linux users will be delighted as there are not many providers doing that at the moment not in a reliable way for retail traders, and considering the numbers and the fact of Windows users that are not happy with MS way of conducting business you would be able to capitalize on it due to increase demand. Do you guys have any time estimate at all please, of when the Mac and Linux project will be implemented? Also if I decide to use Optimus I believe that I could get Sierra free of charge [package 3] than I will also need NYSE historical data to trade with my Interactive Brokers account so I would sign for NYSE historical data from Sierra plus exchange fees. Then I have Optimus for futures and IB for stocks/etfs/cfds as my main brokers and the historical/backfill data from Sierra, is this set up would work as standard/normal? One last sort of subjective question, I do not code myself but I do have some understanding of it, my programmer does EL and some C#, as there are many similarities between C# and C++ which Sierra is based, again it may be subjective but do you think it would be a problem for him to translate his knowledge of C# to C++ to build Sierra custom studies? Regards and happy new year. |

1. For our current position on this, refer to: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/download.php#SupportForOtherOperatingSystems We wish we had a better answer to this, but it is not easy to do what we were originally thinking. 2. To be able to use all the services that you want, requires a direct paid account with Sierra Chart. Not one provided by a broker. There is no additional cost for NYSE historical data or any exchange fees for that. It is included with all service packages. 3. do you think it would be a problem for him to translate his knowledge of C# to C++ to build Sierra custom studies?

I see well I hope everything goes well with the long term project of implementing new OS in the future, you know many people have been waiting for a reliable solution to escape Microsoft monopolist deceptive tactics. Could you please just clarify point [2], “there is no additional cost for NYSE historical data or any exchange fees for that”. So this means if I sign for pack 3 or 5 I get NYSE historical data and I will be able to trade stocks with IB and futures with Optimus at no extra cost right? But how many years of historical data, so how many years I will get for NYSE/NASDAQ etc and Futures CME etc data as well on pack 3 and 5? Thank you Date Time Of Last Edit: 2017-01-03 18:13:33
