Over the October 1 weekend, we are going to change the symbols for Gain Capital/OEC from single-digit years to two digit years.

This makes the symbols more descriptive and better for Continuous Futures Contract charts. With two digit years there is no confusion as to what particular decade the symbol is for and it allows for longer-term Continuous Futures Contract charts.

Once this is done, it will be necessary to update Sierra Chart to the latest version which we will be releasing over the weekend in order for Continuous Futures Contract charts to work properly.

The update will not be mandatory but it is highly recommended and to avoid potential issues.

The symbols in Quote Boards and Charts will be automatically changed to two digit years when using Gain Capital.

This thread will be updated with more information as we move along with this task.

Actually we were able to get this out, this weekend.

When updating to version 1466 or higher, and using Gain Capital, futures symbols will now use two digit years.

For more than a year now we have noticed that the Gain Capital system can handle two digit years for symbols so we thought for a while now it is a good idea to transition to two digit years. These are always much preferred in future symbols.

However, unexpectedly the following problems occurred for users:

-Did not receive real-time updates. Only some users experienced this. We do not know why. This is very puzzling because we see no problems at all with this.

-Positions and orders from the Gain Capital system still use single-digit years. This is resolvable by us.

- For users who have a large amount of existing chart data, it may take time to download new chart data and this could be burdensome in the case of tick data for less powerful computer systems.

Based upon all of the above, we decided to revert back to single-digit years for Gain Capital. This is unfortunate, but we have to do what is best. We have no intention of going back to 2 digit years any longer. We apologize for this. We were only trying to make improvements.

Version 1468 supports single-digit years. If you are encountering any of the above problems, update Sierra Chart to the latest version following these instructions:

Such a shame I really. The thing you attempted to do would really add value to a lot of users. I hope you will attempt it again someday in the future if things change and make it easier to be implemented.

All the best
