Sierra will re-download data from IB, even if it has it on file.

I am noticing that for some symbols (but mostly K200, FTMIB) sometimes when I change the timeframe, or even in first loading of the charts when SC starts, SC will ask for data that it already has on file. Even the previous day's, for the current contract that it downloaded the day before! This leads to unnecessary pacing violations and prevents me from even seeing the chart with the data already downloaded, until the violation is over.

I have no idea why this is happening. Charts are continuous back-adjusted

The only possibility that this might happen, is if you are using the Continuous Futures Contract feature on the chart, otherwise it is impossible.

So just disable that feature. This is not something that we are going to provide any further help with.

We made a correction in the prior post. We are referring to the "Continuous Futures Contract" feature. Disable it for those charts. We are not going to help beyond this.

Unless the rollover rules are properly defined for those symbols, and unless there is a solid historical data system, we cannot help with these issues.

Not sure why you will not provide help with this, and not state why this may be happening. Yes, they are continuous. They are continuous because I need them to be, so I cannot just disable it. The rollover rules are properly defined. Not sure what you mean by "solid historical data system"

The Sierra Chart historical data service is a solid/reliable historical data system. The Interactive Brokers system most definitely is not.

We cannot help with this. As long as the rollover rules are properly defined, there are still conditions where this could occur. It is not very common though. However, the data downloading will always be 24 hours apart as long as Sierra Chart is not restarted.
