Today we are releasing a new Sierra Chart installer. Initially this is only provided when downloading the prerelease. Some first revisions of installer had some issues and we withdrew it. We are fixing the issues now. This installer breaks the design of the traditional installer and provides a purpose built simplified installer to give the user the capability to do what is required. Once again there is no one in the industry doing anything like this. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. If you previously used the new installer before the time of this posting, then you will need to do the installation again. It is recommended that you delete the NPP folder in your Sierra Chart installation because some files were installed into the root folder of that folder that should have been in the subfolders. The new updated installer has now been released. It can be tested with Help >> Download Prerelease. We noticed that the installation process goes more slowly because the files are individually downloaded. We are going to speed this process up. We have some different ideas on how to do this. The very earliest version that can be downloaded with this installer is 1408. None of the other prior versions support the new installer format. The way file downloading will be speeded up is by the use of pipelining over HTTP and only downloading those files which have changed. We will also add an option to automatically run Sierra Chart when the installation is complete. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. OK this is good. However, the main point was that the installer can install any version that you specify and is a single page installer. When updating Sierra Chart and the Old installer is used, make sure the installation folder is specified correctly. There are some revisions where this is not correct due to incorrect parameters for the particular installer being used. This problem has been solved in the latest revision of 1411 of Sierra Chart though. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. We have released version 1412 and the new installer is now used for both the main release and prerelease version.

it might be nice to have some options in order to get or not to get: - external trading services files - cpp compiler files - npp files - spreadsheet functionality - and so on in order to smooth an instance config |

so the MS redistributable is no longer needed for SC to run? or is it needed to be installed once? say im coming from a fresh windows install and fresh SC install.

Longer-term the Microsoft Redistributable package will longer be needed. It currently is needed and the latest version of the installer manages it for you. There is no need to be concerned with it or ask any questions about it unless you run into a startup error and that we will address that as required. i have it installed already on my current setup but have unselected it from the new installer so it doenst keep getting installed or 'repaired' over and over again. maybe you should auto untick the redistributable installation if you find ppl already have it installed.

Somewhat related to this thread is that sub instances of Sierra Chart run with File >> New Instance do not have to be updated. They are automatically updated just before the new instance is run.
