Clear the Message Log: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_MessageLog.html#Clearing Reconnect to the data feed: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_FileMenu.html#ProcedureToReconnect Since the symbol limit is 100, Intraday charts over 100 do not automatically update unless you reconnect. If there still is a problem we need to see the Message Log: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#MessageLog Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. yesterday and today I have big problems with my data feed. I created an AWL with 20 symbols. For 2 symbols I got the actual price, the rest of the symbols are not updated. I disconnected the data feed and reconnected, it took 5 minutes (I got the messages „waiting to download historical data“ and for about 10 seconds „symbol is unknown“) and all symbols were updated. But the same thing again. Only the 2 Symbols were furthermore updated. Enclosed the message log. |

Putting the message log in a file is not the best way to provide a Message Log. Use the "Send for Analysis" button on the Message Log window and let us know when that is sent and we will look at it that way. Since the real-time connection is limited to 100 symbols, the symbols that exceed 100 will not be updated and will cause this condition. If you look at the Message Log you will see many lines with this: Symbol Error - CHRW is unknown, unavailable, or improperly formatted. Over symbol limit. | 2016-02-19 16:32:24 Symbol Error - CI is unknown, unavailable, or improperly formatted. Over symbol limit. | 2016-02-19 16:32:24 So you need to reduce the number of symbols being tracked and reconnect to the data feed . Refer to: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ChartDataFiles.html#ReducingNumberOfSymbolsBeingTracked This is nothing more than a case of an explanation of why you see what you do and explaining the proper procedures to manage this kind of condition. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong here. This is something we have explained from the very beginning. Once you go over the symbol limit you will not get updates on the symbols until you reconnect the data feed. We still are going to get that video today. We have just been very very busy. So we might not actually get to it until tomorrow. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I asked earlier: „I want to scan all stocks in the S&P 500 for gaps. Is this possible despite of this limit?“ Your answer was "Yes“. I understood that I would get all the data realtime and this was the reason for me, to pay extra for the Sierra Data feed instead of using IB. But it seems that I am wrong. So please don’t do extra work with the video until I decided how to go on. |

What we said was this: Yes.
We cannot think of any problems that would occur. But 400 of the symbols are not going to update in real time but at the time you connect to data feed, they will be all up to date once the historical data download completes. Updated: Although the last part might have been part of an edit which was made no later than 25 seconds later. Also refer to these two posts where we mention this symbol limit and what to do: IB - premarket data and volume | Post: 79409 IB - premarket data and volume | Post: 81767 Also, you are scanning for a condition which does not change among the symbols once trading begins at the open for those symbols in the premarket. So real-time data simply is not necessary for what you are doing There is also a 500 symbol limit option for the Sierra Chart Real-time Exchange Data Feed but it is 75 USD per month. So it probably is not worth it. But just mentioning it. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. We went ahead and did the video because it is useful for others as well: Videos | Post: 82273 After thinking about this some more, and being that we recommend using the "SC Data -All Services" during the scan, there is no need to subscribe to the real-time Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed as long as 10 to 15 minute delay data will be fine. Or at the very least you do not need to subscribe to the US Equities exchange. At least for the purpose of scanning. However, in the case of when using Interactive Brokers it is necessary to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed for reliable market data. This is the reason it was recommended.
