2 mins loading time for 5 to 15 mins periodicity change

Hi, Is it normal to have 120 seconds loading time when switching from 5 min to 15 min bars, for a simple bar chart without a single study, going back 300 days, continuous contract back adjusted date rule? Should it not be near instant? To improve speed shall I increase or decrease the 'Max Historical Intraday days to download' setting ? I am looking for as much tick data as possible going back, I am on E Cry, but not sure where historical data comes from - E Cry or Sierra ? And how many days shall I use for 1 tick data? Ideally I want to use multiple years of data on a 2500 Volume chart. Thanks a lot, para6ut |

This is not normal. It will not be in an instant but should not take two minutes. To speed this up follow help topic 30.8: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/helpdetails30.html#h30.8 The other thing to do is to use a SSD on your computer instead of a typical hard disk drive. Thanks, I switched all off including antivirus, got it down to 1 min. I don't have an SSD, 1 min sound about right or it is still a bit too much? Thank you! |

You certainly can do better. An SSD and the faster CPU will make a dramatic difference.

Unless you can hear the hard drive actually being accessed it's unlikely the data is even being pulled off of disk. A chart that has had it's intraday data already loaded for one timeframe t is extremely likely to have all file contents in the OS filesystem cache after that point - meaning HD or SSD won't make a difference. 2 minutes is pretty long for 300 days of intraday. |
