Is there any reason why SC wouldn't be able to access the data in the Clipboard Cache? I cannot paste anything into any text field in SC. This is only happening in Sierra Chart. I can copy from all text fields and paste into another program (notepad, word, etc) but can't paste into SC from any other program. No problems in any other software. Here is a video detailing the problem: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=ac739j%3E&s=8#.VHjEv8m9aNQ If you can think of any setting or anything that might be causing this, I would love to know so I can stop having to re-type complex alert syntax after figuring it out in notepad or if I need to create both long and short signals which are often similar. I've also tried to paste from the notepad++.exe that is bundled with SC (including all the different encoding options) but that doesn't work either. The person in this old thread seemed to be having a similar problem (?) https://www.sierrachart.com/supportboard/showthread.php?t=23590. The SC response though was that he was helped by email. Is it possible to find out what the solution was? Thanks. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-11-28 20:02:22

Make sure you do not have a keyboard shortcut set up for Ctrl-V. These are set through Global Settings >> Customize Keyboard Shortcuts. Although that does not seem to be relevant. What you are showing clearly is a problem happening at the operating system level. Is there any reason why SC wouldn't be able to access the data in the Clipboard Cache? Other than what is said above, we do not know the answer to this. You will need to direct this question to Microsoft support. The only other thing that comes to mind is to set Sierra Chart to run with Administrator level access. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Okay. No shortcut set up in SC. Administrative run doesn't solve it either. Seems strange that this only happens in Sierra Chart and when right clicking in SC after copying, the right click menu displays only the paste option (as it should). I have literally opened up every other piece of software on my PC that can handle text data and I can copy/paste freely between them all. Can copy from Sierra and paste from it but just can't paste into. Windows based solutions don't help because they are geared towards Office programs and people who have installed 3rd party macro programs (which I don't use). Copy/Paste works fine in all office programs. Any chance you have access to the solution given via email in this thread? https://www.sierrachart.com/supportboard/showthread.php?t=23590 Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-11-28 20:21:31

Seems strange that this only happens in Sierra Chart and when right clicking in SC after copying, the right click menu displays only the paste option The Edit box and menu are provided by the operating system. It has full control over what it does.If anyone else has this problem, let us know here. But we doubt anyone will say they do. Actually, come to think about it, other than you, we do not think we have ever heard of this reported. We looked at other thread, and there is little doubt, that was a less experienced user just having trouble with basic operations because they did not know how to do basic things. Whatever help we provided them by email was nothing special. And most likely the reason that there was response by email was because they had sent us further communication by email rather than using the Support Board. Okay, figured this out. It was my antivirus. It added Sierra Chart to a block list that denies access to certain functions. So, if you're reading this and run into this problem, check your AV. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-11-28 21:24:57
