1. This does make sense. Trade >> Show Orders and Position does need to be enabled for simulated orders to be filled. This is documented here:

We will make sure that when an order is submitted through an automated trading system that Trade >> Show Orders and Position is automatically enabled if it is not already.

2. This also makes sense if Trade >> Chart Trade Mode On is enabled.
