It seems like Sierra doesn't support TD ameritrade or TD data feed doesn't support Sierra chart. Whoever it is Sierra should clearly mention in their data feed section. This is clearly stated! In three different places on this page it is clearly stated that futures data and trading is not supported:http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/AmeriTrade.php . In that prospect I like ninjatrader, who provides plenty of videos for each feature which cuts down a lot of client's frustration. So we are supposed to create a video saying that the interface to TD Ameritrade does not support futures data when it is clearly written on our TD Ameritrade page. And a customer then has to play the video to learn that. And what happens if this changes and futures data is then offered by Ameritrade. We then have to update the video and we could forget about that. We do not agree with what you say. Furthermore, a user will have to listen to an entire video and hope they hear the piece of information about TD Ameritrade not providing the futures data on their web API connection. Rather than looking at the information page about TD Ameritrade on our website in the Introduction section which expresses that clearly right in front of someone. And as always Sierra doesn't have a practice of giving answer straight forward, rather than drag into a infinite circle.
This is simply not true at all. Anyone can look at this discussion, and based on your questions, we gave as complete and accurate answer as possible. When we ask you who your futures broker was, you did not even answer us and told us it is beside the point. What we can tell you is the Chicago Mercantile exchange rules makes it extremely relevant. Reference: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php#CME Off course thinkorswim phone support/customer support is thousand times better than Sierra online technical support.
You cannot make this kind of comparison. First of all, the technical support provided by us is always going to be vastly superior when there is a technical issue a user needs help with compared to "customer support" because we are engineers. And to say they are 1000 times better is simply not true. How could that possibly be? Furthermore we are not a broker and do not earn anything from customer trading and we support numerous external Data and Trading services which makes supporting the software by telephone on demand, a practical impossibility and will only lead to customer frustration. This has been reviewed many times. I read in the forum history that Sierra came back with same answer at the end instead of the beginning regarding TD data feed. What are you talking about! When you mentioned that you are using TD Ameritrade and we understand that you wanted futures data, then we told you what is already written three times on the Sierra Chart TD Ameritrade information and set up page. This is very clear by looking at posts #12 through post #16.My feeling carries long way because my group of traders (15 traders) have now already turned away from Sierra. This is good. Whatever works for you. Also, the statements you have made here are not factually correct. And the very simple fact of the matter is that the greed and the selfishness of exchanges like the CME are the root cause of discussions like these that simply result in the customer frustrated which is the reason why we said that if you want to get futures data and you do not have a futures trading account, do not pursue it any longer because we know that most users do not want to pay substantially for the data. It is not fair to complain to us. When the real fault lies with the CME. You are most welcome to post our response publicly anywhere you want and actually we welcome that very much. We are actually thinking of even making this a sticky at the top of our Support Board as an example. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point.
