There is going to be a point at which the grid lines are too close together at the specified increment, at which point they will jump out to the next multiple of the entered increment. For example, you have it set to a value of 4, and then if the lines are too close together to be able to continue to display them properly at an increment of 4, the grid lines will change to an increment of 8 (2 x 4). If you are seeing something different from what we describe above, then we would need more information on exactly what is occurring.
