can I not use any of the number keys for shortcuts if I want to type number into the chart trade window?
As you found out - you can not. The system is interpreting the 1 and 2 as the keyboard shortcuts and not as inputs to the window. Although we do allow you to setup keyboard shortcuts using a single key, we recommend always using a modifier key (shift, control, alt) with each shortcut to avoid this kind of problem.
