Actually, these are not at all the same chart. The one on the left is a Continuous Contract Chart set to rollover on the rollover date and is back-adjusted. The chart on the right is a standard chart without a Continuous Contract option set. The Rollover for the September (U) contract for CL occurred on July 18, 2024, so the chart on the left is displaying the data for the August (Q) contract for the point in time you are referencing, whereas the chart on the right is displaying data for the September (U) contract for that same time period. Therefore, you can not make the comparison you are making between these charts, as they are different data.
