my 2 cents... I have always failed to realize any "value" with creating a new instance of SC (via File > new instance) or to worry about performance issues or data files sizes etc I keep it simple by having have 3 main installations of SC without use of study collections. 1) for live only trading with only ONE day of data. Only fully tested chartbooks move to this install. Zero SIM accounts to keep it clean from building logs etc 2) second is a exact clone of #1 and used only for forward testing 3) Development and market replays only and to apply SC Fast updates etc Migration path is 3 > 2 > 1. I might merge 2 and 3 into just one instance and simplify things further :-) |
